Surf is all across the board - it can go full 50's/60's retro or mix with a punk vibe or lounge or boring nostalgia schlock - it's all in the way it's interpreted. For bass-players, surf can be the most fun to play.

How come Epiphone doesn’t make a NR?
A single pickup Pelham blue with a two piece bridge would be sweet!

I keep hoping for the same thing from Epi. The Vintage Pro was a nice surprise last year and it wouldn’t be hard for them to do that.

That bass is a beast. In my observation the V that Casady is flying cant be nearly stock......can it?. Ive never seen that headstock on a V and those pickups struck me as Gretsch but upon further conclusion I believe that Im wrong. Either way I will be going into my comfort zone at some point this evening and watching that gig in its entirety. Thank you for posting that video and thank you @JJR58 for getting this out there by posting that Hot Tuna picture. Not sold on the vocals but the musicianship is friggin' awesome.

I'd be willing to bet it's Honduran mahogany. Wonder what the serial # is...........I looked at it some more-you can see the screw holes for the handrest and bridge cover. It appears to be slightly darker than mine. My 2 years of H.S. Spanish ain't workin' on the description and the 3 numbers they gave Can't be the serial. That would be at least 6 #s long. Sure is purty, though.drool
The DIY industry offers many body style kits including the Rickenbacker kit amazingly but I think the industry is missing out on a decent opportunity to cash in on a high in demand bass design by not offering the NR. The body designs are mostly bang on but the wiring diagrams and pickup options/locations are out of context to eliminate the copyright factor but it would be so easy and cheaper to just buy the kit and buy the correct options then perform the necessary mods.
They might IF-BIG IF-there was enough demand. Most Bird lovers want the reverse. I prefer my NR and the single pup TBird II would prolly be a hit, esp. at a decent price. With the upheaval in Gibby/Epi land, I wouldn't hold my breath but we can hope.

Just trotted out the Marshall JTM 45/100 for its live debut. Marshall into 4x12 (Celestion Vintage 30s) with the Greco and its new pup. One of my bass playing buddies was there (plays in Howlin' Rain, we try to hit each others shows to evaluate tonez), he said it was really cool sounding, firm lows but definitely midrange focused, very 60s/70s sounding. I was only able to take the amp up to 2 on each channel (jumping channels) and it could have torn the place down. More people should try out guitar rigs for bass, they can kick ass.
Some are like that. In fact, I'd say the best amps are like that. I know my Sunns all sound good at any volume, but they really wake up at around 4 on the dial. Same thing with the Marshall, at around 4 it hits its stride. I feel newer amps are designed to pretty much sound the same at any given point on the volume knob, but those old amps definitely don't, they open up only after a certain point.

They put the Vintage Pro out as a IV, so it'd be cool if they put out a NR Vintage Pro as II. I'd be throwing money at them.

I love WW2 planes. I cant imagine the feeling of flying in a Messerschmidt or a Stuka. Or a Flying Fortress. Must be exhilarating.
