Thunderbird Club

I miss @theFixer! Good guy, had a wonderful way with words and nearly always upbeat. Had a
PM with him a few weeks ago, so I know he's still out there.
Wishing him all the best of life, love, health, wealth and happiness in the new year, and also crossing my fingers for his return to the club. :)
I believe that a lot of us would second that emotion.

These days we haven’t seen much sunshine on Canada’s wet coast. I saw this and thought I better capture it while I could!

Its been years, but a heavy band I used to play in is getting back together, for a jam so my Pbird is going to see some playing time for the songs in C# tuning:) The VP is going to do the tunes in D.

I'll probs head west coast to join my former guitarist for a little bit. Just a vacation, not thinking too much about the future on it. Love the gear!

You don't have corrosive alien blood do you?

Shh, you're not supposed to know of our playing enhanced bio

Because I play through Rumbles, I follow The Rumble Club; since they're Combos, I see what's up in Combo Club; as I'm an 'olde phart', I keep tabs on the GOF thread; and, being a Hockey fan, the NHL 2018-19 Season thread is of interest. Others I've peeked at are good for 2 or 3 looks then :meh:. I always wind up back here.
There’s a Hockey thread?

I installed a set of ProSteels (50-105) on the `bird today. So, the steel string experiment has started ahead of schedule. Initial impressions after stretching them - the sound is good. A bit brighter than NYXLs but not a huge difference. The feel is different. Not rough, but not slick like NYXLs. It is a feel I think I will get used to. After installing and playing, it felt like there was some kind of residue on my fingers - perhaps just surface oxidation? I'll see how long they last; for me, NYXLs lasted much longer than nickel XLs.
I did that same experiment recently, except with NYXL's on my 88 Charvel 4B and Pro Steels on my Sterling Sub Ray 4. I'm curious what you find regarding longevity.

Those aren't mine! Earlier this year I traveled to Germany to visit the owner of all those basses, he's friend that I've known since the Gibson forum at The Dudepit. He's visited me here in Seattle and since my family is from Germany I took the opportunity to visit him and see his incredible collection of Gibson basses - Most of which at in The Gibson Bass Book. The one Thunderbird to realy note in that pic is about halfway up the row, it's Korina and has a bound neck with block inlays and gold hardware, one of a kind from the Custom Shop, very cool! There's also a short scale at he very end.
Hum...I'm thinking Road Trip!

Gibby Tbird 120th Anniversary Ed.
I like that bass. When the ‘15 chose me during the great GC Gibson blowout during a couple of weeks in the summer of 2015, they had one of those at $999. Almost bought both. The ‘15 was and is perfect. But on the anniversary bass, the bridge inserts were pulling up and the fretends needed a bit of work, at least to meet my expectations. They said at that price, it was offered as is. So I passed, not wanting to buy it and then hassle with a warranty claim. But it sounded really good. And knowing what I know now, that I could have fixed it myself, I should have snagged it. But the wife probably would have killed me...
