Thunderbird Club

I use a Broughton hi/lo pass filter all the time. The wireless receiver doubles as a tuner. A high and low octaver is there for rare specific reasons and so is an envelope follower. I do not remember what either of those is. It took a while to find them, and now they are out of mind until necessary. The only other shiny box on the board is a DI. The ToneHammer retired.

Five = same as me (twins).

I’ve posted many pics of my buddy’s bike shop where one of my bands rehearses. Best bike shop in Nashville. Sadly, after 20 years, he was forced to close up shop. Too many folks coming in for hours asking for his advice and expertise, only to order what he recommended online to save a couple bucks. Very sad day. We had a party of sorts tonight to help sell off remaining inventory and celebrate the shop. Played a sort set too. RIP Gran Fondo.

Not really liking that Mark. Sad to hear. Cool set up though. It's cool how you can make a serious racket with not a lot of boxes these days.

Yep, it’s super personal stuff. I love the grind and punch on a good roundwound string for many things. In the roots/Americana world (I have several good gigs in those ‘genres’) that grind tends to step into the guitar players sound too much for me. The right flats separate the two instruments well, I think. And as has been said, Cobalts+T Bird+heavy hands (picks are nice too) gets the piano pretty riled up
What
Macs are a perfect desktop OS for doing unix admin I think. I really don't remember much about VMS. Didn't it have better process management?

Looks like the best face that can be put on an all too common sad situation these days.
Can't blame a guy for bargain hunting, but it's just bad karma to bleed a local for info and then buy somewhere else.

On an unrelated note, that's a very cool LP your guitarist has, and for a guitarist it looks like he's taking the minimalist approach on pedals (tuner + four).

I hate that kind of crap. Sorry to hear, my friend.

Mike Lynch (the guitarist/singer) does keep it fairly simple. Two dirt boxes, chorus and an El Capistan. He’s a great kid. 24 years old and smart as a whip. He’s still developing as an artist/writer, but I have high hopes for him

What in tarnation is going on with the Bass Fuzz Deluxe?

To allow for engaging it without inadvertently triggering the pedals on either side (especially the tuner which happened too often, cutting sound mid-song!) I initially had a wire-plug to raise it above the others. Fellow Tb'r @DDXdesign makes these cool adaptors which fit over stomp-box switches. Can't miss it size and color-wise!

Its crap when independents have to shut, you usually find them to be better with customer service. Imo.

Sucks - sorry to hear this. It's part of the race to the bottom - and they are winning. Performance Bicycles recently went under also. That was a related story about corporate greed, where the CEO deliberately accumulated massive debt and then golden parachuted away as the company tanked. Yah, corporations are corporations are corporations.

You need some winklepickers Geo.

I try not to support the worst of the worst. WalMart has wreaked all sorts of havoc on others in the name of cheap. (And an awful lot of what they have is junk.) But everyone has to decide for themselves, and there are good reasons not to shop at almost any large chain.

The middle class food chain in Florida is Publix. They pay their employees on average less than Walmart.

My choice is to make the most economical decision for me. I know quality and buy what does the job when it comes to essentials. I'll pay $3k for the right espresso machine, I won't pay an extra dollar for a bar of Lindt.
