Thunderbird Club

Sharp! Do you feel it takes away from the bass?
Sorry for the delay in replying to you, but as another poster said - Nothing distracts from a Thunderbird!

Using a white strap on a white Thunderbird doesn't take away anything from it. Instead I would say that using a white strap with a white Thunderbird makes it look even more awesome!

Down thisaway, words of one syllable get extended: road becomes roh-udd, fee-ish=fish, bo-ee=boy, guh-rll=girl, etc. I's become ah's:tahm=time. All explained fully by Jeff Foxworthy.

Best accent ever was a woman I met in Augusta shortly before I headed off for college. Marie had a movie classic southern drawl. "Hi" was three syllables, spoken in descending notes. "Hi-i-i." Each "i" was somewhere between a short a and long i sound, and the whole word took about one second to say. This was not affected; it was how she grew up. I could listen to her all day.

One o' my favorites is "jeetjet"=did ya eat yet?:wideyed: Another quirk. In the South, distance is measured in time."how far is it to Walmart?" "oh, 'bout 15 minutes, give 'er take."

That last one is super valid out west. If you're talking actual travel, it makes sense. For now, if you gave that for, say, one of Saturn's moons, it would be silly.

Actually I think MCF was following the EB Cobalt instructions to the letter, which I've never done. I insert the string end into the center hole of the tuner then wrap once or twice around the post, insert ball end in the bridge and tighten to pitch with the tuner key. I think they recommend you insert the end of the string in the tuner hole then wrap half way around the post, then route thru the post split and wrap the other direction. Sounds overly complex to me.
I followed those EB instructions when I put Cobalt flats on my VP. Now I get creaking and snapping sounds every time I tune it.

Don't really need to tell you the JC is more attractive to me simply because I already have three solid-body humbucker equipped basses. I have played one in a shop but never bothered to plug it in. It was nicely resonant (probably howls like a three year old if you run it through a RAT).
The JC is a beast! Lots of fun at high gain!

I've been having a little peaceable revelation, that I'm very lucky, and very enabled to do the things I want to in life, esp. in this context here, as concerns playing music. I've got 4 instruments, each with their own aspect and all of which I enjoy playing; 4 amps (1 for sale, so 3) that all sound good and are in good repair; and some fine people to play music with.
I've got access to tech help, some friends, a decent job... and I know, in a way, you guys here. This little group is a wealth of good information, bad influence and good humor.
I've just been musing at this the last day or two, and it's been liberating. There are other things too, but suffice to keep relevant here I guess.
It's good to not be needy! And when I am, the are ways to overcome that.

Just thought I'd share.
Thanks! Good word, brother!
