Thunderbird Club

My local train shop deals with a lot of used Lionel (I don't care for it personally, looks too toy like) and got one of those sets in as part of an Estate sale, easily worth well over a grand to the right lunatic.
Something I shot the other morning, this is a "waffle side" car, used to move lumber and in some cases copper bullion, the "waffles are indentations on the interior of the car that allow for load securement. The model stated as something else similar, I added the waffles and custom painted the car.

Growing up on the edge of the desert in El Paso, not too far from the railroad tracks, the Rio Grande was my favorite!

I grew up 5 houses from the Florida East Coast main into Miami. Saw passenger trains from FEC(obviously), Pennsy, Illinois Central and ACL; sometimes with FEC engines, sometimes PRR, IC, or ACL. Plus I was 10 blocks north of their main yard.

Ditto!
That song might be my favorite Rush tune. For the very reason I've bolded and underscored in your post. AFAIC - with Rush, less is more. Namely, less singing.

Interesting. I've loved the vocals since first listen ("Fly by Night" when the album was released).

I'll amplify your echo!
I don't like his songs that much, certainly not his vocals or instrument playing and I'm not that fond of the man either. I'm sure there are many that like ultra simplistic 3rd grade reader level lyrics played with ultra simplistic chops and sung in a warbling off tone crackely grandmothers voice. But who am I to judge, I can't even sing as "good" as he does.;)

I like the lyrics of a few songs, but for the most part, his vocals are for me an extra instrument, and the lyrics just part of the sound of the song. Hey, it's rock and roll; 90% of the lyrics are ultra simple.

The VP is amazing, no, incredible--and you'll have some cash left over.
Agree!
Having both a Gibson TBird and an Eppi VP I'd say take the Eppi VP if you can get it (along with a hard case) for at least $200 less than what ever Gibby TBird you're looking at.
The VP is truly amazing, maybe the best bass buy out there under $1000. That said, just about any Gibby TBird in excellent condition for $900 or under would be a steal and worth jumping on. JMHO

Yeah, I saw @Giffro's post in Rumble Club. I don't have any 'pull' here; just happen to own 2 'Birds and use Rumbles. @Tbird 1958 is the one who assigns numbers, should be along shortly. Welcome aboard the Thunderbird train[see what I did there?]
