Thanks! Puts my mind at ease. I saw something about having a lot more wattage than what your amp puts out as a safety net, but maybe I misunderstood the reasons. But also, Internet.
The original Goliath, which I ordered, I think is 100db. Hard to find that spec for it.There is always a concern of over powering anything. That is why the Sensitivity or Efficiency rating of any cabinet is important to understand. The DBs per watt thing.
So many cabs can have similar designs like four tens; but one may be only an 87 db per watt cab, while the other four ten may be a 103 db per watt cab. That 6 db difference is real obvious when playing. Remembering 10 DBs are an approximate doubling in volume.
So, it can be easy to crank one cabinet, while another doesn't need cranking to get that volume. And that "Cranking" can cause distortions and or damage easily.
I prefer the way your NR looks best. The other layout seems odd. Which is why I just can't buy the blue one above.
same here, I believe that’s why Gibson did it that way..As I've looked at them, I almost think the other way makes more sense. I run my chord up over my strap and into the input jack. This tends to put it in the way of the tone knob. Seems like it could be an easy switch...
Two left shoulders? He’s a leftie Motie? Which class?Good luck! And worst case, at least you have a second one.
Wishing you a Speedy recovery!Today is the day. In about 3 hours I will be having my left shoulder repaired!
Right shoulder repair is likely to wait until late summer to allow full recovery of the left.

We tend to think of the wattage numbers as exact, but they are really just guidelines. Thanks! Puts my mind at ease. I saw something about having a lot more wattage than what your amp puts out as a safety net, but maybe I misunderstood the reasons. But also, Internet.
Coolio! After buying my RD, I'm going to use it as my backup / change-of-pace bass, keeping my much lighter Thunderbird as my #1After inspiration from this thread I pulled out my 11.75 pound RD for Saturday’s gig.I’d forgotten how well balanced it is. Lately T- Birds have been getting the gig call so it was nice to switch up.It was Thunderous ! Looks like l’ll put it into rotation for a while

Just bumping a question I had a couple of days ago back to the top. Didn't get any answers on the last go round in this fast moving thread. Still looking for insight. Here's a question for the TBird clan...
Did Gibson (not Epiphone) ever make a 5 string Thunderbird with the raised face like normal TBirds (not the studio model)?
So, we can add the weather to all of those things in Oz that really do want to kill you.

Amp head vs cab wattage question. I just bought a used SWR Goliath 410 from GC and realized that it's rated at 400W and 8 ohms. My GK MB500 pushes about 350W at 8 ohms. This is ok? I thought the Goliath had more power. The later ones do.
hmmm.....are pickguards overated?....
