KY was where we had the problem. We tried leaving the door open, bleach wipes, enlarging the gasket drain hole, wiping down with a paper towel after each run, etc. and still eventually had the problem. We did have a whole house humidifier, HEPA filtration, and positive air pressurization. The basses loved it, constant temp and humidity and hardly a speck of dust. Unfortunately the front load washer didn't do as well.EDIT: Engle got there first. The trick is to leave the washer door open as much as possible. Sometimes that's not always handy, but solves the stinking and the mold issue. We've had one for several years and never had that problem--and KY isn't exactly AZ in terms of low humidity.
