Thunderbird Club

It clearly is cool, but how does it sound now that you've had time to get it right?

The neck took a lot of fussing with fret-wise but I got decent/playable action w/o buzzing. (51yr old neck was a bit wonky) I've taken it to one TSC's rehearsal and one Friday night jam session. (both last week) Love it. It's got a lot of character and the 2 singles kick - fit perfectly in both applications. There's something about these vintage basses - I just love playing them and love the way they sound. Will for sure use it when we record our 4 songs in January.

I'm in the process of restoring the artwork using Italian pure silver-leaf. The silver 'clouds' are aluminum-leaf and it has been scratched away in many places. (wasn't sealed well)

The top/center-right 'clouds' have been silver-leafed... the original aluminum-leafed 'clouds' below. Aluminum is a flatter silver than real silver-leaf.

There's another way to buy them? :sour:

I have two, actually. They take turns over which one is in the box ;)

Here's a (maybe too much) hint......

Hey! I had one of those. Very good head and not glassy or cold sounding for SS. Some nice features as well. I did some weird stuff and blending the parametric in the other channel together to get a very thick full sound.

:nailbiting:

And on that note: hadda go to GC(Port St. Lucie/Ft. Pierce, FL)to get some new EBCF's. While there asked if they had any '21 NRs. Sales guy said "no". After getting my strings, walked over to the bass section. There, in the top row, 1 genuine '21 NR in either PB or IG-lousy lighting. I didn't bother to try it since (A) I can't afford it*, and (2), it was on the top row. I ain't bothering them to get down sumpin' I ain't buyin'. No point. Told sales guy. He said "musta come in Saturday". Whatever. BTW, they appear to have a 10% vet discount(maybe just this week?).

*unless I sell the '67.
(which I might. But I'm not giving it away)

I am pretty sure it’s probably the one I returned due to paint issues. Check and see if there is a clear blemish on the headstock under the curve. Especially if it seems in between the green and the faded blue the one I returned seemed to have a very off paint job.
