Thunderbird Club

I hadn't thought of Bobby 'Blue' Bland in some time. Saw him years ago. Millie Jackson opened. He was good and all I remember about here was she had to be the filthiest woman on earth. The things she talked about were things you would see in porno movies, maybe not even there, and for no reason.

Abuse. Drugs. Defying the Man. There's always a reason, good, bad, or otherwise. Oft more than one. :(

I always thought that Lemmy had just one T-Bird but just realised his Hawkwind 'bird was a 60's II:

And the one he used in "Eat The Rich" movie and played in the clip below was a '76 - '79:

Yep - I liked it back when it was current as a pre-teen. There were a lot of "car/hot-rod" themed songs then. A carryover from the post war '50s when shopping malls & suburbs boomed and teens built and drove hot-rods.

I knew people building rods and dune buggies throughout the 60s.

I also like the 70s B-15N's with the tone switches, I bought a brand new left over right around 1980 but stupidly sold it. I have a B15S and a B-18 now though. Again, nice clean stage setup.

Back when I was in my HS 'combo' my Heathkit solid-state amp was in the shop and I borrowed a '60s B18 flip-top from a friend for a gig. It was my first exposure to a tube amp. I still can see that glowing clear AMPEG lucite plate! My '76N doesn't have one but otherwise it's the real deal. I replaced the 15" Eminence driver in the ported cab with a late '60s JBL D130R and the tone went from great, to heaven! FTR, the 'R' stands for Rogers who used them in their organs. They were also marked 'F' for Fender, or just D130.

It’s been for sale for a while, I suspect they will take a reasonable counter offer.

WoW I’m guessing I got me a sweet deal on mine… and it’s RED!!!

Before and after…

shape was off a bit so I had to reposition and drill all the holes again.

y’all know me, I hate to modify anything.

The black pickguard came today. I gotta’ say, I’m pretty impressed with the fit and finish on it.

Welcome to the “cool kids” 2015 club!

Thanks for the tip on these, I ended up paying $24 shipped for mine.

much nicer look with the black.

I have a 2018 EB and it has the exposed poles like the 2015, the look looks really nice.

Does anyone make exposed pole covers?

If that were my bass, I'd 86 that finish to showcase the tiger-flaming on the wings - and I'd install a tone pot.... :bag: :)

aren’t the controls Kill Switch, Vol, Vol?

my Schecter had a kill switch and I had replaced it with a BucketHead type kill.

I’d do Vol/blend/tone.

$1700 doesn’t seem too bad of a price, what were the last batch of standard “reverse” selling for?

relics tend to irritate me, so I agree with the refinish idea.
