Drove 45 minutes to a GC that had one in stock and exchanged it.
I don’t mind dings and stuff that but when it’s new, it should look and sound flawless.

It’s a tough call ! If it is a bass you plan to keep and hopefully never sell and you love the playability and tone I would say keep it. However, if it is something that is gonna bug you and you feel like you paid for an inferior product then send it back.
That top pic is not a ding, I’d consider that a finish flaw that should have been addressed before it left production. If it was a handling ding and I could get a discount, maybe, but it would have to play like magic to overlook something that messed up.
Pretty similar to the other one. This one has more growl or perhaps it’s just me and probably slightly heavier.
Necks feel identical, nice low action with no sharp frets and intonation is spot on.

More than once, I’ve purchased several of the same model, used the return window to decide which was the keeper, and returned the others. They almost always have a tiny flaw somewhere if you look hard enough, but there’s nothing wrong with getting the best specimen you can find and feeling good about it.
Congrats on a beautiful bass, I can’t believe the price on these. Enjoy.
Don't wait too long. After purchasing mine, I contacted Fender to find out just how "limited" this edition is. They said they were making 50 for the European market, and 900 for North America.
I believe high expectations should apply to anything you buy, why lower the standards to inferior quality, even if the price is relatively low, doesn't really matter. I have 24 basses and I had high expectations with them and am glad I did, quite a collection.

I already scratched the back some but when I’m buying something new I want it to look perfect even for a day and then to become mine. I think I made the right call.
It’s fine to have high expectations on relatively low priced items, but it’s also naïve and the odds are against you
Come and see my collection, then speak of the odds. Not so naive after my 20 year collection. You are displaying lower than expected quality, hate to see your collection, then speak of naive.
