Maybe on something more expensive you should expect that guarantee, not for $799....
Why is everybody expecting flawless instruments for under 1K these days?

To be honest, that would bug the Sh*t out of me! I would return immediately!! even if it played great! For the money id keep returning until I was satisfied!! Nice bass tho :[

I couldn't see what you were talking about it the second picture. The first picture i probably wouldn't get bothered, but that dent would annoy me too much. I think the odds of getting an equal or better instrument are in your favor with an exchange.

This is your best bet. Is it worth the runaround? Unless it’s damaged, it wouldn’t bother me one bit.

If it's brand new, it should not come with any imperfections. If it does, then it's either not brand new, or it is B stock and you should get a discount.

I got a demo Original '60s Jazz on Reverb last week advertised as "mint". Had a few marks on the body.

Contacted the seller and got a partial refund. Bass is perfect otherwise.

For 700 I wouldn't expect it to tick all the boxes, but if you dont look at it like that, that what I say doesnt matter you.

What I would do is reconcile the fact that you are very happy with playability and sound. If you swap it, are you going to get the same.
I'd angle that option.
Check out what they'll replace it with and pick the one you rate best.

When it comes to basses made of wood, there absolutely are good ones, OK ones, bad ones, and simply amazing ones.... and I'm talking about the same model made on the same line on the exact same day. Some just resonate in a way that's special.

So my point (and I can't speak for everyone) is that if THAT bass feels, plays, and sounds amazing, it may be worth it to keep it. If it's just "a nice jazz", and the blems bother him, perhaps he should roll the dice and send it back and hope the next one is really nice.

With Fenders (and similar production basses) you're always taking a bit of a gamble. If you find one that plays well, feels good, and sounds great ... then you should keep it IMNSHO.

I think you should send it back. You've already seen @Warpeg and @MonetBass have the same bass in perfect condition as do I as well. Mine is beautiful and plays great. GC has them in stock right now, so you could probably get a replacement by the weekend if you were to exchange it today.

If it were me, IF I liked the way it played and sounded, as you have stated. I'd keep it. The flaws, as as I can see, are cosmetic only and you may, like others have stated, not like the new one as much. It's eventually going to get dinged some in some way with use anyhow. I'd play it and not worry about it. But that is just me. The decision is yours. But, I think they should offer you some kind of discount or credit though just to be fair.
