They are just little copper sleeves that make the small pot shafts into large pot shafts so the knobs don't go all wobbly-ass-spin when turned.

it has a varitone pot which is different, new to me. the fender 57 raised-A pickups sound excellent I like them a lot-a lot.

Just had some replacement pups dropped in my Squier hybrid bass (VM CAR PJ body, VM Jazz Bass 70s B&B maple neck):

Delano PMVC 4 FE/M2 Precision pickup
DiMarzio Model J Jazz pickup

As you can see, the V/V/T setup of the original is replaced with a 3 way pickup selector/Master Vol/Master Tone.

Haven't tried them at high volume yet, but they seem to gel quite well together - nice tone with both on, both individually sound great, pretty much the same volume. Some tweaking to do, but so far, they seem like they'll be worth the money.

There was nothing really wrong with the stock pups, just fancied trying some new ones; had my eye on the Delano for a while, and when I saw one come up used for a good price, couldn't resist.

Gigging it tomorrow, so looking forward to seeing how it sounds!

I like the Model J, but wow, the Delano is something else! Had to lower it a bit to tame its high output, but it sounds amazing - very clear, balanced lows & highs, with that P mid-bump, and gets grindy with the tone up. Sounds like a beefed up P, which is exactly what I hoped.

May get a Delano large pole Jazz pup for the bridge. Nothing wrong with the DiMarzio, sounds great, but now I'm curious how the J's sound.

So I finally got this Bullet Bass dialed-in. I received it a number of years ago in horrible shape and it's been on the back-burner since then. The original plan was to load it with a P-bass pickup, but I've got two keeper Precisions.

I've always loved Telecaster basses(never owned one) and I've been wanting to experiment with the single coil P-bass sound. At any rate, this bass is light, has a great neck and seemed like it had the right curves to make a good SCPB platform.
It's ugly, aggressive and probably looks worse now than when I got it.....but I really like it.

The worn look is great! I'd play it if I had it. I guess some people like their basses shiny, but I don't mind a bit (or a lot) of age.

Not a fan of putting Fender on a Squier and were I to buy one like that the first thing I'd likely do is sand it off and put something silly on there or leave it blank. That said I wouldn't slam someone for doing it as long as it still said Squier somewhere else like on the back of the headstock or the neckplate, otherwise it would seem too much like trying to pass it off as something it's not. By having Fender on the headstock you don't have to deal with as many cork sniffers when playing out (I'd imagine); avoiding people who want to tell you that you need better gear or prefer to listen with your ears would make it totally worthwhile.

I've got a couple of VM jazzes where I would probably use half of the squier logo, (the actual Squier part) but use half of a fender logo. (The big font Jazz Bass logo as opposed to the small one that comes on it) I would use the other half of the waterslide for something else.

I'm about to reassemble a squire p I just refinished and I'm using a spb3 and all new pots and wiring. Looking and p bass wiring, all there is for ground is the bridge and jack wires but the squire has several different grounds going to the jack and to the pots, why is this? Helps with keeping it quiet? I've rebuilt several basses and never did any kind of shielding and I have no noise issues
