I use mine into a DSM OmniCabSim (I don't like the one built into the Le Bass) then into a Phil Jones Bighead, into which I can plug any mp3 player, or a PC via USB to mix in. However, there is now a deluxe version of the OmniCabSim that can do this in one box!

If you just want a cheap headphone amp / personal mixer, I can recommend the Behringer MA400, there are some Rolls units that look decent too.

Yes, that's pretty much what it's designed to do! Although it may be worth looking into the GK Plex which is coming out soon - main features it has over this being 9V power, an aux in, USB soundcard, compressor, and adjustable cab sim. Whether it sounds as good as the Le Bass though still remains to be heard!

I received my Le Bass last week and I absolutely love it. It sounds great before the valve pre of my Markbass TTE801 but also before my Eden practice amp. I love how it makes my basses sound and feel.
It has relegated my Basswitch to gigs where A/B switching and switched effect loops are necessary. I've only done one gig with it so far and mainly used it to fix a very lively room on that occasion.
It's very versatile and I'm sure it would sound great for in-ears. I'm not sure about the cab sim on it though.

I could actually go ampless and just use my two notes torpedo cab pedal of I wanted to haul more pa gear. With inears it sounds and feels real under my fingers. It would be a much better recording piece. I love it, and I don't love too many pieces for long.

The more I play with Le Bass the more I like it. I bought several tubes as well to try - a Tung Sol, Electro Harmonix, and a different Ruby than the one that comes with it.
Now the question is do I keep my Putnam-modded VT Bass?

IMHO, the Torpedo CAB is even more valuable than Le Bass in my rig and is the key ingredient in making FRFR, DI and IEM situations both sound and feel legitimate.

Torpedo CAB's power amp sims provide the vital missing component in tube tone.

With no disrespect to Le Bass, with the Torpedo CAB one can hide behind a much lesser preamp and achieve results that surpass Le Bass on its own.

The differences were VERY subtle. The Ruby 12AXAC5 HG+ made no difference from the stock Ruby. The Electro Harmonix seemed a bit dull. The Tung Sol was my favorite - slightly more mids, plenty of clarity in Channel A and Channel B had a little bit more oomph.

Again - it's subtle and probably not worth your time if you're happy with the sound. I was happy but wanted to experiment.

Cool thanks for the feedback I figured that was the case but I'm always tempted to try different tubes, prob stick with the stock tube, sounds great as is

Sure. It is fun to try different tubes - and it's nice that it's so easy to change in Le Bass. I did end up leaving the Tung Sol rather than the stock Ruby. But it's nice that they used a good tube in there.

I started using a Markbass pedal adapter 12v 1.5A on my small board (big board has the adapter that came with the LeBass) and it sounds better to me with the higher powered markbass adapter. Not sure if it's phycosomaytic though, I'll have to blind test them.

Ruby 12AT7C - Very clear and articulate. Nice open sound. Plenty of low end on both channels. Low noise.
My favorite so far.

Electro-Harmonix 12AY7EH
TONS of low end even on channel B. Very low noise. Louder on Channel B.
Sounds much less full on A. Do NOT like channel A sound.

Ahhhh now you're making me want to dig my old tubes out of storage! I guess I might as well try out a few when I have some time. I know I've got a couple vintage rca's and GEs doing nothing at the moment

I don't thinkin I've ever tried a 12at7 before, good to hear there's some differences between the tubes...thanks again

Do it! Especially since it's so easy to change tubes in it.

OK. I've tried. I've tried on more than one occasion. But the sound guy keeps telling me to turn off the cab sim on the Le Bass. No matter what I do he says its "tubby" or "boomy" with no articulation. Even if I cut back bass and/or add in treble... same directive. Turn off the cab sim.
