The GV. Kind of rare but sounds like it would fit you well. Electronics are the same as Cirrus, 21 fret neck with truss rod wheel like the Millennium and a wood neck with carbon fiber on it. The necks were made by Bell and Carlson....not Modulus. Mine is not for sale. It is a great bass.

The bolt on USA Cirrus 5 would probably be great too. There is one on Reverb but it is overpriced IMO.

Yes, well, kind of - I am in the process of it this week. I really like the parameters of the Cirrus pre, and because I'm all out of bubblegum... I mean Milli pre's. (Name that movie..)

It’s a cool idea
From what I know millennium pre and cirrus came from their respective basses. As having two different names I figured it’s not just a variable mid change but. It must be EQ points too

It probably would sound different but not radically I’d imagine

but the mid would be on a focused EQ point which would be different but cool

Factory offered the Millenium preamp as an upgrade.

Swapping is simple (Ive installed millenium to cirrus countless times)

The GV does sound fairly close to a Cirrus.

Does anyone know of ANY kind of active bass pickups that will work with the Cirrus / Millennium preamp ? I am working on a Millennium bass with a Cirrus preamp. I do have a set of jazz VFL's (thank GOD !!!) but I would like an extra set to have, just in case.
I know the VFL's have a microchip in them and a third wire, so it's positive, hot, and ground (right ?) and I don't know of any drop in replacements. Even if it needs to be routed, I'd like to know if there are any brands that have a pickup similar to the VFL's.

The pre in a Cirrus has some controls soldered right onto the circuit board, and they emerge through the matching holes on the surface of the bass. You'd need to have the same geometry on the Millenium to get that to work for you. No idea if they match.

I wonder how the Peavey Berlin sounds compared to the Dean version that has Barts?

Not strictly true. The pots have PCB angle mounts serving a dual purpose of making solder contact and securing the PCB, all you do is detach the mounts from the board and use hook up wire between pot and board . Same method if replacing a faulty pot.

Preamp PCB will need secured in the control cavity , motherboard standoff screws or something similar take care of that.

That's what I figured. If you can put a Milli pre in a Cirrus, then why not a Cirrus pre in a Milli ?
