Well, it's already going up for sale!The reason for this super quick turnaround, is that I ended up snagging the Mk3 5-string fretted that was listed as an Mk2 on eBay (thanks @BWorm!).
So, now it's time to sell the Mk1. See, I really wanted a fretted Wal all along, but I got impatient and found the Mk1, thought it was nice and figured I would just have frets added. But of course, the Mk3 comes along just days later and I couldn't resist.
Here's some info re: the Mk1. It was built in 1985 (it has Wal's signature on the back of the control panel!) and was bought by the previous owner new at Bass Centre in the UK. It sounds amazing! I'm not the best fretless player, but it even makes me sound good! Mwah for days! Not surprisingly, given its age, it has its share of bumps and bruises on the body (mostly on the back, with some buckle rash). The neck is in great shape. The fingerboard has very minor wear lines from the strings. Electronics check out fine. Hardware looks great. Includes the original Wal case. Hit me up via PM if you're interested. Awesome! I'll admit I cringe whenever I see a bass precariously positioned against something (usually an amp). I guess that's just my OCD coming through. Haha
So I am back and as Caca and Kulit know, I had some minor issues with my newly purchased '84 MKI. I got it on Australian ebay. The guy shipped it in just a beat up Fender case taped shut. No outer box or padding...from Australia to Pennsylvania. 
So i plug it in and the jack was extremely loose and the sound was distorted and popping. Im freaking out, so I take it to my tech. After some excellent and helpful advice from Caca and Kulit, we were able to quickly narrow down the issues. First, the internal trim pot that controls the overall output was broken and hanging on like a loose tooth. I found a replacement 500K trim pot (the official size according to Mr. Paul Wal in case anyone has to do it themselves) online for 99 cents. Also, the input jack was working but stripped so that was replaced as well. Then he went to check on the electrolytic caps and sure enough, they leaked acid all over the tracers. Caca advised to bypass the tracers with a couple of wires and thats what he did. So, that cured what ailed it! I got it back last night and have been playing it non-stop since. Sounds awesome. Exactly what I expected. Cant wait to take it to band practice this weekend! I will post a few pics soon!

I was just thinking that my friend Oddio, who started this club, passed away in December 4 years ago. Too bad he's not around to drool over the photos you guys are posting. It's also a shame I'll never be able to show him the basses I've since accumulated (unfortunately a Wal is not one of them!).
Yea, Andrew is missed here for sure. I helped his brother and his good friend set some pricing on Andrews gear when they sold that stuff after he had passed. Dave and Don are very nice guys and i was more than happy to help them.
I was very fortunate enough to purchase Andrews Black MKI poly, his Beechwood MKIII and his TC Electronic Blacksmith amp. I remember when we left Ottawa there was a bad snow storm. It took forever to get back to the Toronto area. Crazy
