Yes - the full five books in one; "Complete & Unabridged" with "Unhelpful Guide" intro by the author. Is that the full 5 books you are reading?
They are fun reads, even if they do taper off a little (IMO). Enjoy the laughs![]()
It's pretty silly - kinda like reading Monty Python or Firesign Theater. But fun. This isn't my usual reading fare. Have a hard time with writers like Tom Robbins. But these guys do have talent! The perspectives and insights are just proposed in such a silly way. Not a "bad" thing at all!
I've always been a non-fiction reader. Some one posted a FaceBook list of the BBC's 100 fiction classics, so figured I'd read through the list. Going off of it though because it doesn't have a lot of American authors, mostly Brits. No Hemmingway, Michner, Rand, Vonnegut, King, etc. Have enjoyed a lot of books I would never have thought to have read - Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Little Women, Hobbitt.
I can see why some older peeps complain about the "death" of the English language. "High" English reads really well once you get into the flow of it! But I speaks the modern.
A few books listed turn out to be trilogies (Lord of the Rings, Golden Compass, Hitchhikers, Dune), so I'm actually winding up reading a lot more books than 100!
