Whether it be drunk people approaching you in a bar, or beginner bass players here in the forums, what questions are you sick of getting?

They are far too intimidated to ask me questions. Because if there is anything that intimidates people its an old fat guy with product in their hair and a wild stage jacket.

I hate random requests that show the level of musical ignorance bestowed upon some such that they think a grinding three-piece all male blues band can just up and magically crank out ABBA, for Christ’s sake. It’s happened. Yes it has. Lately I’ve been gigging a half-step high just to see if they can even tell

If you’ve raise children, the question is “Why?”. But, not to dampen their inquisitiveness, I always answered their question with a question, what do they think or why do you think that may be? It’s a quick way to determine if there is truly an interest in learning something, or it just about pushing buttons.

When abroad, as a Canadian, getting asked if I know so-and-so in another city two provinces and 2,000 km away (that is about 1,600 miles in American).

Two fingers and 40hz nailed it.

With me it's less about the question and more about the answer. Too many times people will give someone a hard time for asking a question that has been asked before and post a link to some thread from who knows when.

It usually comes off as being a little snide.

The reality... TB has been around long enough that nearly every question could have been asked already.

If people just used this as a database, and not a forum, what would we have to talk about....

Perish the thought, but they might have to rename it from TalkBass to Research Bass.... or maybe even.... DataBass.

And sometimes the responses to the questions are dated enough that they aren’t useful.

As a kid I played violin and piano. I got this one a lot:

"Don't you find violin more difficult than piano? Because your two hands are doing different things?"

I mean, do you know even a single piano piece where both hands are doing exactly the same thing throughout?
