i mean don't get me wrong he's not the most technically proficient bass player in the world, but I can think of players FAR worse than him (for example: Sid Viscious and I've heard Robert Trujillo is pretty bad too). The man has an awesome stage presence and personality! Not to mention he really knows how to write songs lyrics!

Half the dudes posting here have not heard Pete's music and yet they STILL have an opinion.

Are you starting to perceive, OP, just how much old dudes love voicing their opinions? Presumably because their kids refuse to listen to them (which is certainly comprehensible).

Rob Trujillo is good bass player, i never once heard anyone say he was bad maybe you got him confused with someone else

I agree, when he auditioned for Metallica he blew them away (video on utube). 'everyone else was struggling at 90% and he nailed everything' - not direct quote from Lars. (and 'everyone else' are all players for big name bands)

There's also a video of him playing flamenco guitar with Kirk and James sitting there befuddled trying to grasp what he was doing (and they are the guitarists)

Not a fan of Fallout Boy, or Pete Wentz, but man I remember when their single for "Down, Down" came out and that thundering, snarly P bass pick tone could be heard over the whole song... I was grinning from ear to ear I think it's better to focus on the positive parts of a musician's playing than to harbor negative feelings for things that really don't matter in the long run (poor clothing style choices, simple root note guitar-doubling bass lines, marrying the less-popular and less-talented Simpson sister, etc).

It has little to do with his bass playing, which is fine.

I hated emo back in the 00s. Pete Wentz was like the posterchild for those kids. And it always bothered me that everything focused on him when Patrick Stump is/was the only thing unique about Fall Out Boy. So yeah, it's mainly because he came off as such a douche nozzle.

Green Day is super punk, look at all the eyeliner they wear! They are scam.

easy guys,.. i happen to know Frank Wright III aka Trè Cool. Green Day came out of the shadows and exploded because they were the best of bunch. Frank in particular grew up in Mendocino County, Ca in the worst conditions. the local community would donate food and clothing to his family when he was of school age. who can blame them for getting rich and staying there. GD has stellar management. even so, they would come to the "hood" or invite us to their mansions and private parties. Trè would come to my house in "Dog Town" in West Oakland to jam the R&B, Funk, and Reggae with us. he'd take us out on his boat, sometimes leaving us the keys when he toured. my family went to his wedding years ago! Joe fed us for free at his diner in Emeryville whenever we stopped by! Billy Joe is just a very quiet reserved dude around us when he's not on stage.
just because they made/make megabucks does not constitute a "sell-out", imo.
