I got my musical equipment added to my homeowners' insurance. They had a column for up to $5000 of "computer equipment" and I asked them if, since we didn't own a computer at the time, I could have that coverage applied to "musical equipment." And they said OK. This was State Farm, by the way. Of course, we have a computer now..Originally posted by reachjkh
I don't think that homeowners insurance will cover your equipment. I was just having this discussion recently with the guitar player in my last band.
If you play out with your gear and make even a dollar at it, I don't think homeowners will touch it.

Yeah... thanks for making me paranoid until I close on the new house and get my homeowner's insurance kicking. LOL

The guitar player told me about some company that covers his musical gear for something like $200 a year. Vivaldi? Something like that. Anyway, I'm open to correction, but I wouldn't count on that homeowners unless you just play at home.
I'd ask them.
