I have thousands of dollars to purchase a bass. So, I’m here to ask complete strangers who have never met me or heard me play, how should I make this large financial decision?

Rest assured, with every suggestion you give, I will push back and explain why your suggestion just doesn’t work for me.

1. Buy a sunburst Fender Precision Bass
2. If it does not have a tortoiseshell pickguard, but one and install it
3. Unless they are La Bella flats, immediately remove whatever strings it came with and install La Bella flats.
4. Buy a fedora and a pair of Ray-Bans to wear on stage (I recommend Clubmasters but Wayfarers are a solid choice)
5. Learn to play "Get On The Good Foot" and the correct bass parts to "Cissy Strut" and "Mustang Sally" (Wilson Pickett version)
5. Let me know if you can cover any Fridays for me next month

Nothing has changed and no progress has been made since the very first mass-market model of bass was invented, so that is always the best plan whenever dealing with any type of electronic device. However, based on everything we already assume about your technique, your preferences, genre, what basses you've owned in the past, where you live and what is available, the choice is easy: Buy the bass that I just got. It's the best bass ever for everyone, and even though it will be in the classifieds in 2 weeks it is a great bass that I really hate to sell.

This very much sounds like a guy named Brentrocks whom I've run into across several forums.

I've owned vintage precision ('76) and jazz basses ('65) and now I'm on my second MusicMan. The Stingray IMO is the best of both worlds. I have the 3 band EQ version, and I can get boomy precision or honky jazz bass tones or something that's the best of both worlds. I've also owned a Rickenbacher 4001, a Carl Thompson, and a G&L 1000. The Stingray is my favorite by far. It's a '93 if that matters.

Modern Vintage is reimagined Fenders? What no Gibson's or Rickies?
I'm really tired of Fender basses. Even though I have a P-Bass, it has a MudBucker, also.
My Jazz has the pickups permanently in series.
Neither one sounds like a Fender.
The Best bass for you to buy is to take this Hamer offa my hands.
