The only thing missing is the outrage response. "You were obviously talking about me!!!"![]()

I have thousands of dollars to purchase a bass. So, I’m here to ask complete strangers who have never met me or heard me play, how should I make this large financial decision?
Rest assured, with every suggestion you give, I will push back and explain why your suggestion just doesn’t work for me.
But yeah… all replies are welcome.![]()
Nah... this is totally a troll thread. Nothing new for me this year. I've settled in.This definitely is not a joke. You WILL have another NBD soon, for sure.
With that said, have you tried a carbon fiber necked bass? Modulus, Zon, Status. I feel that you have not posted an NBD bass with a carbon fiber neck. Do it.![]()
These. And all the rest in the series, too. They're not that expensive and they're P-basses to boot! What's not to love?https://bassmagazine.com/gear/fende...v5cpYvbUXJ7_0STa1wCmZ-aVX3S1MZdPanukK6x5Ck5G0
Sure, they look great, but...

I don't know, man - I heard Chris Walker playing an all-graphite Steinberger with George Benson last month and he was able to make that bass sound closer to an upright than almost any electric I've heard before. It was really weird!Nah... this is totally a troll thread. Nothing new for me this year. I've settled in.
I was intrigued by carbon fiber neck basses. I used to own a Modulus in the late 90s-early 2000s. They sound kind of dated to me now. I'll stick with woods.![]()

Yeah, p-basses are cool, but not really.
Which is better? P or J? I’ll probably get a Stingray. This is really helpful.
Ferner does some beautiful work. And being in Memphis, they're only 5 hours away from me. One of these days I'm going to pay their shop a visit.
I'm actually in the middle of that process right now. Rob Elrick is one of my favorite builders. I have owned about 5 or 6 of his basses and they're consistently phenomenal. A while back, I was asking about playing 6-string. I finally pulled the trigger and am having Rob build me one to spec. I won't have if till around the new year, but it's going to be a lot of fun to expand my horizons with that wonderful instrument. But it sure would be fun to select your favorite luthier and give it a shot.
