If you're actually serious about this, think about every bass you have ever owned (or played).

For each one, ask yourself:

1. What was it that you really liked about it?

2. What was it that you really hated about it?

Then start playing every bass you can find and pick the one that ticks off #1 the most, and #2 the least.

I just want to give a shout out to all the dudes willing to jump in and be the butt of this gag. Every comedy routine needs a straight man.

You definitely need a seven string that's tuned to drop A and has a detuner and a tremolo bar. It needs to have 20mm string spacing and a jazz width neck and should weigh 5 lbs. Also the neck shouldn't just not dive, it should magically levitate, so you will have to buy at least a 3" wide strap to keep it from floating away.

Buy an old VOX bass, why do I say this? Because I have fond memories of VOX basses and the 60's. That's not you? Well buy what you like then.

PS: I kinda like my purple Sterling Ray34, maybe I'll put some VOX tuners on it after the black ones strip out.
