Which bass should I buy?

I have thousands of dollars to purchase a bass. So, I’m here to ask complete strangers who have never met me or heard me play, how should I make this large financial decision?

Rest assured, with every suggestion you give, I will push back and explain why your suggestion just doesn’t work for me.

But yeah… all replies are welcome.

That depends upon which of the now twenty five thousand genres of Metal you wish to play.

No bass - why not spend the money where it might matter? A (small) donation to a charity, take up sponsorship for some kind of educational instance, a nice (extended) trip with kidz, family, partner, husband, wife,... in order to make long lasting memories.

You can get a bass for a couple hundred bucks. Pick the prettiest one and spend the remaining money on hookers and blow.

My suggestion is buy whatever bass you want, and get it setup by a reputable shop. as long as it sounds good and plays good then it is good.

It doesn't matter which woodshed, what matters most is that the sides are maple and the top is swamp ash. The grain in the sides must ALWAYS be parallel to the long axis and align with energy meridians, and the top should be aged enough that it doesn't warp after you die. Then you're going to have to decide on door hinges. They must be high mass and preferably have 360 degree adjustment with one hundred set screws. Veneer the door with Koa so it shuts with a warm thud, not a harsh thwack. Then kind of stick the wiring and electronics anywhere and everywhere 'cause what really matters is that wood; magic trumps science.

If you have thousands of dollars, I would suggest an Alembic. I had an Alembic Rogue that I traded for an Alembic Persuader...both awesome instruments. After 15 years of playing it, I gave it to my son (who wanted to learn to play bass). I couldn't think of a better gift....he still has and plays it daily (10 years later)!

Nah man ..... Get a guitar !! Bass is only for people who aren't talented enough to play the guitar . Plus everyone laughs at the bass player .

Go to the music stores try different basses. Play long, medium and short scale to find what you prefer. I have 3 different basses from different makers.

You are paying for the bass, therefore paying for GAS.

But instead of one bass, you should get 50 $100 basses.

Spend a day with each, and after 50 days you might end up with 2 quarter-way decent ones you can mod, sell the rest. Buy 48 more and repeat the process until you have 50 half-way decent basses.

And post pics of the entire process, or it didn't happen.

Now Cousin Leroy, he's a chef. He gonna use that shed to cook two nights a week. Get fire insurance. Never call the cops. And no matter what happens, don't go near the shed when the red light is on.
