Who else does this to their cabs?

If I were playing something that people can respect I wouldn't change it at all. Maybe a cool decal on the grill but I would leave the emblems there.

The only time I would remove them was if I were ashamed of using that brand. But I never would because if I were ashamed of it, I wouldn't buy it in the first place!

i know it's sacrilege and all, but i taped over the bergantino logo on my nv610. just looks too pretentious

Why do you say that? If I spent that kind of money on a cab,I'm going to leave it alone.

i quite like my Epifani logo on my cab. then again its a nicer looking logo than Hartke's IMO.

Just wondering, do you do that to your vehicles too? I don't see the point unless you are embarrassed by what you use. If you are you shouldn't be! Most of us can't afford the best of the best.

I in fact have stripped prior vehicles of all badging. I think at times all the embleming and fake chrome is a real detriment to the lines of an otherwise sleek looking vehicle. I've done it for others who share that opinion too, a few Hondas, a Mazda truk, three jeeps (tho you can't really get rid of the stamped in silouettes on the sides)...I have also done full replacement grilles for people...not expert, just like doing it and love the result.

That said, there isn't a matter of embarassment in the removal of logos on gear. Not in my case, and I doubt in the OP's case, as he said, it looks sleeker / cleaner / more aggressive in an "unassuming" way. I think the Hartke looks badass, and they sound nice to boot. Rock it man.

Unless it's the total band blacking out - it's kind of a waste of time.

Best setup I've seen for this was a band shrouded everything they had in black..you could tell how tall stuff was but couldn't tell what it was.

It's floor monitors that are distracting.

Anything betweent the vocalist and the audience is a distraction.

My brother thinks im crazy that whenever i get another cab i strip the elblems and repaint the grills etc...IMO i just thinks it gives a cleaner aggressive look to it...plus i dont like to advertise much. This use to be a Hartke vx410...does anyone does this as well?

I don't have the ampeg logo on my cab, but only because when I got the replacement grill, one of the four screws holding the logo onto the old cab is stripped and I can't get it out. I've gotten used to just the blue/grey cloth.

I like the way your cab looks now, I really don't like the look of cabs with metal grills, especially ones with silver speakers underneath. I don't know why, to me it just looks bad, like it belongs in some kind of industrial setting or something.

I blacked out the grills on my Bergantino cabs but only because they were generating lens flare and strobing on cameras.

Back in the 60s, a friend built copies of Fender Dual Showman cabs that sounded great and cost about 1/4 as much as stock cabs. First thing we did was go out and buy Fender grillecloth and nameplates to make then look like the real thing. I don't buy things for the logo, but I figure the maker has the right to advertise. What could bother me, but doesn't, is cheapie jeans makers that use a Levi's style logo to make it look like you're wearing Levi's when you're not. Kinda like putting a real Rick trussrod cover on a Rickenfaker.
