I used a pair of TL's for 20+ years, but one EV finally packed it in & the other is about ready to give up the ghost. I'm also ready to go lightweight & retire the TL cabs themselves. Right now, I have just one 3015LF but I'm interested in how yours pairs with the straight 3015 as I'd like to add a second cabinet?
Looking at the specs, I got the 3015LF first because I thought that the higher xmax would preserve the thump at the lowest end of the spectrum (I use 5 strings, and the fundamental of the low B is right around 30 Hz.)
The LF, though, gets strange starting at 1KHz, so I got a regular 3015 for the 2nd cabinet because is was much more usable out to about 3.5 or 4 KHz. I was a little worried, though, since the regular 3015 had a more restricted xmax.
I spent a couple of days trying to get an accurate picture of exactly what options my SWR SM900 gives me to try and protect the 3015 from the lowest octave or two, while still allowing both cabinets to operate with overlapping coverage of the bulk of the frequency range (and ideally rolling off the 3015LF around 1KHz.)
The conclusion that I came to was that the built-in biamp capabilities of the 900 just didn't give me the flexibility to set up this overlapping frequency coverage. My next thought was to try and use an outboard crossover to customize the frequency ranges for each driver (since I have a dbx 234 sitting on a shelf that I'm not using.) I might still do this some day, but once again the 900 complement of outputs was falling short of making this easy. I use the mono send and return for effects, and needed another full range send to split to the two crossover channels, and it isn't there.
So, ultimately, I decided to punt for the time being with all the micro-scrutiny of the frequency spectrum going to each driver and just run the thing with the cabinets paralleled and the SM900 in bridge mode. Given that this is now the likely scenario, I would have probably chosen two matching 3015 drivers instead of having 1 3015LF.
