Who's rocking two fifteens, no tweeters?

I wish cab makers who put tweeters on them would cross them over higher than 3.5k. If you like the 5k rolloff of 10"s, you lose it with the tweeter totally off. Sometimes I have to use a cab with a tweeter, and I'd like that extra high end back in the woofer.

i agree. that's why i modded all of my tweetered cabs to have a true bypass switch to have the option of bypassing the x-over/tweeter completely. that way i get the amp's full freq response output thru the speakers and let the speaker's own roll off be the only limit to the cab's high end.

That's pretty slick.

Two Bergantino HT115s. Sometimes a bit of tweet is OK, but only on top.

Picking up a 1967 Sunn 200s folded horn cab this weekend. It's unloaded currently. I sent the details to Eminence, and they claim the Kappalite 3015 should work in there, so I'm going to give them a try. I know, I know, they won't be the original JBLs ... a lot lighter and better able to withstand my Carvin B1500 though!

Looking forward to this cab ...

Cheers,
Liam

Also, I'm not too worried about beaming. I mentioned in another post about a festival I played last year. Only vocals went into the PA at this show. One of the other bands' bassist was playing a Sunn 300 head into a single 15". I walked all over the field, and heard everything I wanted to hear in a bass at over 45 degress off axis. He was using roundwounds too.

I know this might not jive with the science, but it was definitely what I heard. I haven't concerned myself too much with the beaming aspects of 15's since then. Especially for the music that I play.

Cheers,
Liam
