Options. I really like what the OCSD added to the board, what it adds sonically, and the ability to go in or out of the signal path. I kept thinking that another flavor would be nice to have without having to bend over and fiddle. Often we don't have breaks, and we go from EDM/synth, to edgy, to mellow without a break long enough. The second OCSD gives me three preamp settings on the fly. I've used multiple preamps before in this way, but right now this seems like my best setup, so far. I'm super happy. I can't wait to try this setup out a week from Saturday... ROCK BAND

Looking ahead at my playing commitments for the next few months, both at church and the rock band, I've come up with this simplified board for the summer. I'll take it out for a spin tomorrow

A couple of questions:
I see you have the Noble HPF off and are using a Thumpinator. Do you like the HPF on the Noble?
Can you tell me what your signal chain is for this board?
I have been using a SansAmp BDDI for years and I'm looking for an upgrade. I have a M87 compressor -> BDDI -> FOH & IEM. If I could only buy 1 piece of gear, would you recommend the Noble or the OCDS?

"Do you like the HPF on the Noble?" Heck yeah! However, since I added the OCSD it seems best to leave it off, as the OCSD is more variable.
"Can you tell me what your signal chain is for this board?" Right to left: GLX-D > VMT > Cali76 CB > mT > OCSD > Noble > FOH (or AMP depending on situation)
"If I could only buy 1 piece of gear, would you recommend the Noble or the OCDS?" Tough question! And budget hugely impacts the decision. I can't imaging ever selling my Noble. It has been on my board since I got it right after Thanksgiving (#134) 2015. I have used the OCSD as last on the PB (no Noble) with very excellent results. So, it does make a really good Pre/DI. There is just something about what the Noble does that makes it a staple on my PB. Back to Budget. You can get almost FOUR OCSDs for the price of a Noble. Hard to say which would work best for you. I love the old tube amp goodness the Noble adds to the OCSD. All the pedals on my pedalboard play together very well. I would guess that, coming from a BDDI, an OCSD might be a good place to start. I sold a bunch of pedals and other stuff to afford the Noble and never regretted that purchase, or its utility. I did a rock gig yesterday that had both the Noble and OCSD engaged the whole time. I was able to walk out front at soundcheck (outdoor gig) and the sound was better than on stage. @SteveC and others on here are very happy with an OCSD as the Pre/DI, as would I... if I already didn't have a Noble. So, again, an OCSD might be a good place to start. You might just have a winner for your situation.
Anybody using the shift line Olympic MKIII with pedals/tuner..? Got a pic of your board/chain? I have been looking but haven't seen anything on this thread yet. I have only seen people talk about it. Also, anyone that has an Olympian...Miss not having a footswitch? Did it come with the power supply?

Thanks! FWIW, I kept my Keeley over the Duncan and liked the Duncan more than the MXR comp which I'll probably let go of....to try a Smoothie.

Side jacks? Ugh. That would almost be reason for me to not go with the Omnicab. Not to mention the MKIII just flat out sounds better with the tube and gain control. The cab sims are fantastic. In my opinion the MKIII is in a different league.
I am not a pedal board kind of guy but I will second the Olympic MKIII as sounding amazing. That and a tuner is all I need.
To each his own. OCSD and a tuner on a Nano is all I need.
Also a very happy user of the Olympic MkIII! Used this yesterday at church, well the comp, delay and preamp anyway! Mounted on a Pedaltrain Mini with a Cioks DC5 running everything.
I for one am VERY keen on the outcome of this test.... I'd like to run your comments against those from ovnilabs.com - looking forward with great anticipation!
Hey Doug, Dave's, @ExaltBass .. his assessment is spot on..
There's just something magical going on in the Noble.. I've used it on bass, obviously, electric guitar, a very cheap(not mine) AEB that sounded weak and horrible through the $20 church DI.. But through the Noble, it was fantastic!!..
For fun, I even ran an Acoustic guitar through it at home... Good stuff all around!! To me, it can't be beat..
Like Dave, I too have an OCSD.. it's great on own... in pinch, a couple of weeks ago I ran a tuner, cali 76cb, and the OCSD to FOH... sounded pretty darn good... given, I did miss the Noble magic, but if I had to, I wouldn't be disappointed if I had only the OCSD to use...

The Noble is probably awesome, but I just can't justify the cost. The OCSD really changed the way I hear myself in my IEM's so that's why I love it. It helped FOH as well but to the crowd bass is bass. I'm more concerned about how I hear myself - especially when using an IEM system.

The Muff is overkill for church, and tricky to get a subtle OD from, but I like it for other things. Eventually I will likely get a boost/OD pedal to run at church.
The Memory Boy is fun, but I really need to get my ancient Ross flanger fixed for a good swampy sound. OTOH, I love the vibrato on the MB.
I want a second EQ so I can switch between mid boost (for the traditional Phil Lesh worship sound 8^), a bass heavy sound, and flat.
And I want a volume pedal.

That's precisely why I love my EHX Bass Soul Food. Deliberately low gain structure for a bit of extra hair in the sound. I know it's a much derided OD but all the things a lot of folk seem to dislike is why it works for me.
I've got a Bass Big Muff on my board and I've used it a few times at church. It's usually been on our Nights of Worship where everything gets really cranked up! Those are fun nights to be a part of.
