Worst pedal you ever bought!

It's funny how many of these I've owned. I still own two that people have mentioned (the cheap Behringer & Digitech synths).

T-Rex the sweeper bass chorus I just don't like it. For me it sounds like it doesn't keep the fundamental tone of the bass, it alter it and adds the chorus effect to it as to me it should simply add the chorus effect to your original tone.

Fuchs "Jersey Thunder ". It barely matched unity gain when on full , and I couldnt find a good tone at any setting. I sent an e mail to Fuchs but never heard back , I have to assume it was defective , I returned it the next day.

Boss cs3 was my big letdown. I used a cs2 which was owned by the studio we were tracking at. Went out and got the cs3 and it wasn't the same at all.

I was thinking to put ODB3 first.. but I have had some success with it - especially running it before VT Bass - makes it sound very reasonable, even though i am not using it any longer really - its been on my board for good 2 years now.

But the #1 - poopie award goes to - Digitech Bass squeeze, brought it to the practice, turned it on... and turned it off and - off it went back to the store.

I've bought pedals that weren't any use to me, but I could still see the merit in them, so I don't think I've bought any 'bad' pedals as such. I suppose the worst was the 9v EHX Bass Micro Synth, but only because I was disappointed about how it sounded compared to the previous model.

Tie between DOD Bass EQ and Bass Compressor. The EQ did nothing really, except make low-end soup. The compressor just taught me that I hate compression of any kind.


Addendum - 60% of the effects on the ZOOM B3. Synths, phase shifters, reverbs, delays, etc. Mostly junk. The 6 settings that I actually use made this pedal worth the $$$ (mostly the amp emulators).

Tech 21's bass compactor was one of the first pedals I bought when I was 12. Read some reviews on the 28k dial up, Netscape navigator and decided it was the best pedal to buy with all my Xmas monies.

Got the pedal in and was quickly disappointed. Tech 21, I want my childhood back.

For me it was the B:assmaster. I know it gets a lot of love and I really tried to work it up against my Rat and Tonebender but it sounded good. Funny thing is I listen you YT videos with it and even then it still sounds exactly the reason I got rid of it (traded for a newer Tonebender since my old one was dinky). Much happier without that pedal.

I used to say mxr el grande bass fuzz, but after getting the digitech bass synth wah i have to adjust my opinion. the bass synth wah is the worst by far!!!!

Another vote for the T-Rex The Sweeper. It distorted like something awful. It didn't like any of my dirt pedals and was clipping like a mad man. I would see that little red light blinking and adjust the knob but then it would be too quiet, so I tried finding a happy medium which wasn't very happy. More like a poop sammich of distorted crap chorus. I finally said this isn't worth it. Bought a cheap Electric Mistress and never looked back.

That being said it sounded good by itself.

Danelectro dan-o-wah. One in a long list of pedals by Danelectro that look awesome with a great sonic idea behind it that are just built too cheap and flimsy to sound proper and last longer than a week.

The DOD Milkbox. Only because I loved it so much that I let a friend borrow it for his practice only to have some drunken idiot stomp on it weirdly. It's been to many a shop but every time I get it back it works then doesn't work. My trust in my beloved compression is goooooooone.
