Full name is Bono Vox. Talk about pretentious"Bono" isn't that great either.
Dinah Cancer was an 80s classic stage name. And for bonus points, after 45 Grave she had another band called Penis Flytrap.
It's not the "power" part that ruined it, it was the "Captain" for the first name. Sounds too much like a comic book superhero.People used to think because my last name is actually Power that it was a stage name NO ITS REALLY MY LAST NAME!.... A friend of mine played in a band with a goth kid called himself AND introduced himself off stage as "The worlds prettiest zombie", when you are an overweight homeless lookin version of John 5 with a bowl cut IT AINT PRETTY!.
At least they didn't name him "Harry".I used to work in photofinishing. A customer left off a roll of film under the name Peter Dick. I was expecting it to be porn, it wasn't. I was ready to give him grief over dropping film of with a pseudonym like that. He paid by credit card and his name actually was Peter Dick. Makes you wonder what his parents were thinking way back then.
That was a real person, you know.Englebert Humperdinck immediately comes to mind...

Yes, but it was also his stage name. His real name was Arnold George Dorsey. Isn't the title of this thread, "Worst Stage Names You've Ever Heard"??That was a real person, you know.
I know what the thread is. You misunderstood. Englebert Humperdinck the German composer famous for writing Hansel und Gretel. Ah, got you. I knew who the real E.H. was. I just thought you were busting my chops because Dorsey used the name of a real person AS a stage name. My bad...I know what the thread is. The reason I know this from when I was a little kid is my dad studied to be a symphony conductor and was a high school band director. As he never let the truth get in the way of a good story, it may or may not be true, but he claimed the only reason my name isn't Englebert Humberdinck Hargis is because my mom wouldn't stand for it. But, he was also crazy enough to really do it.Ah, got you. I knew who the real E.H. was. I just thought you were busting my chops because Dorsey used the name of a real person AS a stage name.
