That's quite true from what I've seen. Overdrive can be quite tricky to set right. It really needs to be done in a band setting rather than at home by yourself.
Very true, one of the first lessons I learned when I first got into pedals. The settings I use at home just don't work in the mix.
Had to try one with all the rave reviews and just received mine yesterday.
Very impressive for me with gain and level @ 9:00, tone at 12:00, switch set on low.
Light OD that reminds me of early Grand Funk or Faces / Jeff Beck Group both with Ron Wood on bass.
Great at home and looking forward to rehearsal this week.
There is way too much gain for my applications though; primarily the sensitivity of the pots.
Is there a way to lower the output, or make the gain / level pots less sensitive.
A tiny bump on the level control = HUGE volume gains.
Mine didn't have any paperwork in the box and I don't see a manual online; have you all just learned to live with this?

I have yet to see a retailer sell those Fender amp clones, not in Canada anyway. I know some guitar boards were all up in arms about them. Funny how the same people will go out and buy a Valvetrain amp which is basically the exact same kind of clone job.
So for the first time in a couple years, I brought 3 basses to my gigs this weekend, one of which is my 95 P Lyte with EMG PJ's. Never used that bass with the Joyo yet, but I gave it a shot, and it absolutely killed! Hits the Joyo considerably harder than the Precision, but sounds quite musical in a different way than the Precision with the 62 Original. Hard to explain in words, but I'm actually happier using it with EMG's than I am with the passive, and I really dig it with the passives. I wish I'd have tried it with the Realistic violin bass too, but the songs I used it on didn't require overdrive.
Sure. Motown stuff, Beatles, Freddy Cannon stuff, a couple of songs Bowzer does like "Born To Hand Jive" and "Shout," and pretty much any song with a big Hollywood ending.

The tinniest pot position change can equal huge gain changes, and yes I'm getting picky about a great sounding $35 pedal
so guys install a 1Meg resistor between lugs 1 & 3 of the gain pot (essentially making it a 500K pot) to reduce the overall gain
