You know you're a bass player if...

side note: Sadly, I think the Honda Element is losing that battle, but I'm torn between it and its predecessor-in-fugly. You know, starts with an A... and ends with somebody retching on the ground. I love ugly cars =0)

A real Bass Player would get a Toyota SR5 and ask for it in Blueburst or Transparent Orange. ;)

You know you're a bass player when.......

You're walking through a furniture store explaining the differences in all the wood types to your wife. "Babe, I don't care what he said, that ain't mahogany!!" or "Sweet! Flame walnut!"

Happened to me.

You know you're a bass player when.......

You thump / slap your knee during hymns at church.

When :

Your favorite scene from Spinal tap is "Big bottoms"

You go to the boat show and can't find the "bass boat " cause nothing there looks remotly like a hollowed out double bass

If some one asks you if you want a pbj and you think of a 5 string pj hybrid.

Ok this has been hinted at on this thread, but from what I can tell nobody has just come out and said it....YOU KNOW you're the bass player when no one knows you're in the God $&*@#'d band!! Now I'm sure some of you dont have it this bad, but no matter where I play, I'm always hidden behind our horn section for the bulk of the set. There have been times where, after a show, I'd be sitting with 2 or more other guys from the band, and someone would come over to each of them.."oh great job!" etc etc. And when they get to me it's always either..."are you in the band too?" or they dont say anything. :bawl:

On a lighter note, there's some movie with Renee Zellweger where, on the cover, she's sitting against a couch on the floor, and in the background there's a bright red Fender P-Bass!! It catches my eye every time I hit the video store... :bassist:

You know you're a bass player when you have to explain 8 times to some seedy guy with a mullet that just because it has 6 strings it doesn't mean it's a guitar. "No, it's a bass," "But it's got 6 strings, it has to be a guitar." "NO!!! BASS!! IT'S A BASS YOU FOOL!!"

ARGHHHHHH!!!!!!! It's a bass damn it!!

Almost got into a fight in the high school gym (LOOOONG time ago) with a guy who thought I was messing with him...would not believe that my Coral 6 string was a bass.

You know you're a bass player when the main reason you bought that pair of shoes is that they bear the same name as your favorite instrument.

A superior bass would be the old Converse basketball shoe bass. :smug:

How about a Reebok "Pumps" bass?Yeah, when you press the little pump, it switches the pickups from series to parallel, or does drop-D tuning.

d00d, cool! Can we see a photo? Where'd you get it from?
I tried to take some pictures of my gear to post in the "Show your amps" thread, but my computer isn't recognizing the digital camera. I can't upload the pictures to the computer. As soon as I get it working, I'll post a picture. I found it at a yard sale, actually, along with a new set of Fender flatwounds that I now have on my bass. I've done searches for "Fender towel" on the internet, but always come up empty. I think he make of worked at Fender or gotten it as a promo item.
