So, What's your favorite slap tune?
It's funny that just about every bass demo youtube video has people playing slap, but I don't really hear a lot of music with slap.
Maybe post a youtube link to your favorite song. I'm looking for some tasteful lines and just good bass parts that enhance the song a as whole but if you got some crazy fast and fancy stuff that's cool too!
Here's my pick:
I don't think he slaps on that. In fact, there are very little EWF tunes where Verdine White slaps/pops.September Earth Wind & Fire
you are quite right, I've been playing it "wrong" for years, thanks for the correctionI don't think he slaps on that. In fact, there are very little EWF tunes where Verdine White slaps/pops.

A lot of people think Brick House is a slap groove too, and I've been guilty of doing it.You're not playing it wrong.
I recall reading a Verdine White interview ('80s Guitar Player mag) & he said he did not do much slap...if at all.
That kinda blew my mind. Sometimes, he plucks very hard & that gives a "pop".
Anyway, a reversal to your thing.
Once upon a time, I'm playing Wild Cherry's biggest hit...fingerstyle (like the recording).
The BL told me to slap/pop it...like the recording.
You just can't win.
I slap it as well. There are some pops in the original.A lot of people think Brick House is a slap groove too, and I've been guilty of doing it.![]()
