In the late 80's and early 90's I was a DJ/Lighting and Lazer operator for the biggest nightclub in Sydney with a capacity of 2500 people. It had an unbelievable circus atmosphere and was a blast to work at.
We'd regularly finish the night with the theme from "Flipper" as our last song. You'd see hundreds of people heading down the street dancing and singing "Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning....... etc".
Sometimes we'd even finish with "Mr Ed".

Herb Ellis used to play a killer version of The Flintstones theme, solo or as a cool duo with Barney Kessel. The song's got a classic jazz standard structure, so played like a bat out of hell it's a great platform for a great player. I saw Herb play it all alone at George's Spaghetti House in Toronto many moons ago and was blown away. Then I saw the duet a couple of years later in Ottawa when he and Barney were on tour with Charlie Byrd as a guitar trio show. Great playing again. Anyway, since this is TalkBass, here's a fun version with Herb and Ray Brown.

In an era of binge watching it’s the one theme I would insist on listening to all the way the end!

It's fun that the isolated notes at the beginning of this theme are Morse Code spelling out "Endeavour" which is Chief Inspector Morse's jealously guarded given name.

"Babylon 5". Each season is different and reflects the over all theme/tone of the season. This arguably one of the most underrated and under appreciated scifi shows of all time.

Hey folks - long time reader here now first time poster - guess this TV thing finally got me in gear enough to sign up ! Didn't see this one so I reckoned I'd better get it out there with the others. Cool theme, cool car and the outfits are quite something as well - I must have missed that part of 1980...

Some obscure shows with theme songs I enjoyed:

Loved how WWW had the unique ‘freeze frame’ at commercial breaks.


Groovy bass line, although the science behind the show was kind of goofy. Season two was terrible.


Yow! Diana Rigg in that black catsuit!!! Ah, those swinging’ 60s.


This show scared the poop out me as a kid. Half the the episodes have been debunked, but still fun stuff.


Funky theme song, sometimes very gritty subject matter for it’s time. Lots of celebrity cameos.

I don’t know how to post the clip, but I found “KNBC-4 NFL intro for NBC Sports” on the inter web.

That theme was the audio equivalent of ringing the sports dinner bell for my Dad and myself. When we heard that, it was time to take a seat. If anyone can find it and post it, you’d be bringing back fond memories for us older dudes. Thanks.
