For versatility, I highly recommend the Ibanez sr505. I own one and it can play amazingly for any kind of genre. I have used it for metal, rock and blues, but I'm 100% sure it would play just as well for any other genre of music.

The sr505 is an amazing bass. I own one and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a good 5 string.

Of course Fender wins.......... But I voted Ibanez!
