To update this thread….I have a year old Ray 34 Sassafras that has the tuner issues also..I have not played it in a while due to a shoulder issue, but today got it out and started tuning it..and a tuner stripped..so today I emailed SSBM customer service and they responded within an hour..sent...

I just bought this used..after I did a good set up, plays and sounds as GOOD as any bass I have ever owned…buy it..

I have a Sterling Ray34 Sassafras and the tuners on it are tight also ..they look good, but I worried about tightening to tune it…I backed off the screws and retightened them with less tension..so far ok..

I told my wife I was #1109, and like everything else she was not impressed….

I am pretty sure I fit in this group…no piccolo like runs or solos..just try to do a good steady bottom end….do I get a # ?

Just put D’Addario tapes on my Sterling 24..first set of tapes and they play so smooth..need to add a little treble for my taste, but so far loving them..

Know how you feel. Playing guitar and seeing Stevie Ray Vaughn in his early days before he "made it "was like , "why am I trying"...That was in the early 80's, and I still play every day.. Bass is relatively new to me so I am at the same point, but it takes a lot longer to learn something new.

played guitar for 46 years, went to bass last year..completely different deal than guitar...its about setting the rhythm and being in time. Its really hard to do it right..and everybody in the band works off of what you do...though they will never admit it. I am still learning..
