That is exactly my setup when I'm playing an outdoor gig or a larger venue (bumping up the wattage from 400w to 800w with the second cabinet). Phenomenal sound and the best of both worlds kind of situation. Highly recommend it.
I've tried doing that with a Rumble 500 using a Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig and I wasn't pleased with the results. I ended up ditching all that and going Mesa Boogie and have never been happier. ;-)
I agree with a few suggestions above. If you are dead set on leaving the band, tell them before the gig you are quitting, but will play the gig so as not to leave them high and dry. As someone said above, if they decide you can walk before the gig because they've got a replacement, then...
I find my D-800+ with the 115 Ultralite to be more than enough for most applications. We do however run a line out from the amp's DI (a fantastic DI by the way) to subs. Nevertheless, for most outdoor gigs I use the 112 paired with the 115 so I can bump it up to 800w. Outdoor sound dispersion...
Yes, thiiiick finish and heavy too just like the original. I put DiMarzio Model J's in it, GHS Pressurewounds, and through a Mesa D-800+ and it roars like a mastodon from the days of yore.
It's my #1 or #2 live, depending on the application.
That neck is labeled as such, but I'm not sure that it's the same neck as on my 2015 Fender Classic Series 70s Jazz Bass, so my experience is with its neck. The dimensions on mine are 1.5" nut width, 0.82" at the 1st fret, and a full 1.00" at the 12th fret. The profile seems to be a D shape...
I've been a Precision Bass with flats guy and still am, if I have my druthers. However, in our band in both rehearsal and playing live, I pretty much only play a Jazz Bass with GHS Pressurewounds now, albeit it has DiMarzio Model Js in it. I love my Fender Road Worn Flea Jazz Bass with flats...
Nice! The controls/features look almost the same as my Mesa D-800+'s. Although of course the speakers are what contribute to the overall live sound. If it's anything like my amp's DI however, then you've got a great piece of kit right there. The DI has been fantastic into a recording board or...
Yes, usually flats for P, rounds for J, but go figure, I've got flats on one of my Js. The other J has GHS Pressurewounds, which not only are great strings, but work much better for me live than flats do. Still love flats when I can, though.
Nerdy reference for a moment. It's like the (original) pilot episode of Star Trek, "The Cage," where telepathic aliens would create the image of a beautiful human woman, but when the illusion was removed, the woman was horribly scarred and deformed. It turns out they found her in her crashed...
I have it on my POD GO. It's interesting that they classify it as a distortion effect--it can certainly add some hair to the signal path, but the way I use it just adds some real body and kick to the signal. I've never tried a real Noble DI (I've drooled over demo videos) but I have to say the...
+1 for pretty much any of the MESA Subway offerings. My D-800+ gets pretty close to an Ampeg sound with my P-Bass because of its flexible EQ--if you have an Ampeg cab you'd probably get closer! Plus, they're built like tanks.
I had the Flyrig v.1, and despite all these things (and more!) I tried, the octaver just didn't work well or track properly. I sold the damned thing. Now I use a Line 6 Pod GO with the new firmware which gives me an emulation of the OC-2 and it works fine. The POD GO is an option and you can...
I have this exact looking bass and it's become by primary one at this point. It's stock and it also has TI flats. For me, that's the tone I want out of this bass. The stock pickups and electronics make it sound a bit dark at times, so the TIs give it a bit more articulation that balances it...

I have a rather specific situation that I hope someone has experience with.
For gigs, I use a Mesa D-800+ through a Subway 1x15 and/or a 1x12.
For home practice, I don't like to use the D-800+, even with the headphone out, etc., due to my living situation and noise/good neighbour relations. I...
