    Wal Bass Club.

Looking through some old phot albums this morning and found lots of Wal-related pictures. These were my two main basses in the early 2000s. Why did I ever sell them? The fretless in particular, as although I bought it used I've never seen another like it.

Remember mine is a passive Pro 1, so only the little scratch plate over the control cavity.

Turns out the pickup cavity isn’t grounded to the control cavity. Was that normal for these basses at the time?

Two 82s just showed up at BassBros. Prices not too crazy either. Bass 1 - PB1150 Bass 2 - PB1705

Yes, I am in the UK. Only about an hour’s drive from Paul actually. I tend to call but emailed this time - we’ve know each other nearly forty years!

Anyone got a wiring schematic for a passive 1982 Pro 1? I’ve got some grounding buzz…

    Wal Bass Club.

And I should also say hello. I haven't posted to TB for a long time, but I used to be walbassist on here. I've owned lots of fabulous Wals over the years :hyper:

Hello all Can anyone advise what screws I need for a Wal Mk 1 bridge? The ones on my Pro 1 are badly rusted and I would like to replace them. Thanks all :)

NBD. Dingwall John Taylor signature bass

I haven't done a side by side, but I have swapped out the four way rotary to a six way in the five string and much prefer it. I went for the middle solo over the bridge solo version and find it more versatile. Other than that, the basses are identical apart from the fingerboard, so I can't...

Hi folks Slightly random question, but is there any difference in the strings following the change of packaging from plastic packs to boxes? Are the strings still the same?

I did think about pearl but thought it would make the top too "busy" with the stripes as well. Clear is actually a really good shout as the stripes do indeed extend across the whole body.

I’m wanting to try a different pick guard to the black on my primrose JT5. What colour do you all think would work best? I think single ply white is probably the safest choice?

Does anyone know if the Fast Lane basses have been given the green light? They look great!

    Suzi Quatro

As a young boy growing up in the UK in the 70s, Suzi Q was a regular Thursday night attendee on the BBC's "Top of the Pops". Any British kid from that era will know "Can the Can", "Devil Gate Drive" and "48 Crash". Glam rock brought us some good and bad things, but Suzi was definitely one of...

I'd say the neck is more of that middy honk you get with a P. The middle pickup is more rounded. Both very useable!

Installed the Fret Nation six way rotary switch in my JT5 this morning. It was fiddly, but it went in easy enough and the wider range of sounds are terrific. I'd highly recommend this addition. Thank you Jason :)

They wouldn't sit flush and would look odd I think. The easiest and cheapest solution is to just take it off. I am sure you'll get used to it with the passage of time.

That’s a very expensive option, but it is the only way to completely lose the guard and holes. You’ll also lose the headstock logo, which is something you may not want, unless they can colour match the body and you are happy to keep it the same colour, in which case the cost will be much lower...

    Least String Noise Nickel Roundwounds?

It was a while ago but I think they are a highly polished groundwound, much like La Bella Super Polished are.

    Dingwall Owners Club

I usually like the GHS Pressurewounds on basses, so these were my first string of choice when the time came. However I did not like them at all on the Dingwall for some reason, they seemed to be much higher tension than when fitted on other basses. So I'm sticking with the Dingwall nickels, as...

Hello all First post under my new account (my old account name of walbassist seems to have "lapsed") and it's to say I have joined the Dingwall family with not one but two basses. I am absolutely blown away by how good these basses are. First up is the fabulous Rio Dream Bass, which was a...
