I've got a guy who's telling me I can disconnect the internal speaker from my combo's power amp and it won't hurt the output transformer as long as I have a cab running out of the extension speaker jack. Is this true ? It's an old tube amp.

If I were to use the ART Tube Pac with a head, would I run it to the instrument input or the effects return ? Same question if I use a Sansamp BDDI. The head is a GK 700 rbII if it matters.

If I were to put a set of long scale strings on a short scale bass, would the string tension be the same as if I were to use a short scale set ? Assuming the strings were the exact gauge of course. Wouldn't the only difference be removing some of the length of the long scale string ?
