The first bass I bought since moving to Arizona was a Fender Flea Jazz bass, the road worn shell pink one (looks beige). It currently has 3 year old Rotosound tape wound strings on it. I bought several other basses since, and I like them all, but the Flea Jazz bass is my favorite.

I was playing the melody to Lucky Man (at home) in the upper register of my bass and noticed the notes were a bit sharp (Intonation off). So what did this Lazy Bassist do? Fix intonation? Nope. He tuned all the strings a little flat and continued playing. :bassist:;)

I just put a set of Fender 58 tape wounds on my Fender American Professional P-bass. It had flats on it before. What a huge difference! I like the clear but mellow tone from these. I also strung them through the bridge instead of the through the body. I'm very pleased with the sound so far.

Fender Rumble 800 paired with Ampeg Portaflex 410HLF.

I tuned down a whole step on my Fender Flea jazz bass with tapewound strings on it. Sound and playability seems much better than it was in standard tuning. Anyone else do this? What were your results?

My Ampeg Micro VR head died several days ago. I replaced it with an Ampeg V-4B head and Heritage 410 HLF cab. I decided to get a small bass amp head to go with the Ampeg Micro VR 210 cab. I ordered a Trace Elliot ELF. I will post pics when it arrives. :D

Plugged in my Ampeg Micro-VR. It made a Gawd-awful noise then started smoking transistors. Still stinks. I only played it a handful of times, but it is almost 2 years old. It always had a slight hum to it, but this is ridiculous. :bored:

My Fender Steve Harris P-bass came with Fender round wounds on it. The strings play and sound fine, but they turn my fingertips black. :cautious::oops::jawdrop::eyebrow: Never had strings that did that before. I'm thinking they may have nickel in them. Anyone else have this happen? Know the cause?

I found a nice 2 bedroom, 2 bath town house in Rio Rico, AZ. The seller accepted my offer and my real estate agent says we should close on August 10th. I will post pics possibly as soon as Monday evening. This will be my first home purchase. I see a music room in my future! :)
