Post ONE Picture of what the coolness of a Bassist is to you !

Oh hell yeah! Mic Todd all the way! I love Emma Anzai though. Such a sexy bassist. She can slap the **** out of her bass too. :D

    Inconsiderate co-worker playing music....HELP!

I would say burn a CD, and while she is away switch them. Make sure a few of the tracks are death metal and the volume is cranked up. So when she goes to press play its nothing but loud ****ing "whiddley wahhh" and REAGHH!! Death metal man! best way to go for a chick like that.

    Constantly changing tunings

Try to clump the songs that are in the same tuning together, that way you wont have to constanly keep retuning. Also as others have suggested, multiple basses would be a good way to go. Personally I don't like the idea of having to keep re-tuning my instrument just for other songs. I...

    Destroying Instruments

Well, I've destroyed an acoustic guitar once. However it was the bands idea, also a really old ****** guitar. It was fun at the time, however I would never do that again. Especially to my bass. I love it too much to destroy it. I just don't see the need to destroy your gear. Sell it or give it...

Looking for recommendations for beginner's bass

I thought I was going crazy for a second. I knew I replied to one of them...sure enough it was this one.

Looking for lighter beginner's bass for my wife

Well if you want light, how about an acoustic? ;) Also, the Yamaha RBX-170 isn't all too bad. Not to heavy, its right in the middle. It has the P-J style pickups and its got a pretty decent sound.

Looking for recommendations for beginner's bass

Hmm, not sure if anyone else would agree but the Yamaha RBX-170 isn't all too bad of a choice for a beginner bass. Not too heavy, not too light. Pretty decent sound. P-J style pickups too.

Jobs that don't allow you to support yourself

My previous job. Being the Lot Attendant for Mike Piazza Honda. Working 3 days a week doesn't help either
  10. R

I'm stuck in a rut. bassically. haha.

Eh, I don't want to recomend this...but try a new cover? Different tuning perhaps? Try an effect even. Something like that might help you think of different ideas....

    Former bassist!

I would like for them to close this thread actually. And yes my last post was a trolling post.

    songwriters credit??

Simple. If you wrote it, it is yours. No one elses. No one can claim credit for the work you created. So if you wrote a bass line then the credit for that bass line belongs to you. Now, say they wrote the guitar parts an all and you just played the root notes. You don't have much say in it...

    What bass do you play?

My Yamaha RBX-170 Seeing how it is my only bass.

    Former bassist!

Please let me know how the **** I am trolling. I simply was sharing what happened to me. I told the band from the get go that going to the studio was a waste of time and money. However no one listened to me. Well anyway if someone could close this thread that would be appriciated. Take...

    Former bassist!

I am responsible. However paying a 20 dollar debt to the drummer isn't too high of a priority for me. Seeing how I have other bills like legal fees, insurance, and paying for gas. So 20 bucks for a recording session that we never got use out of the tracks isn't high prioirty in my book. I...

    Former bassist!

I am not making excuses, however I am not paying them back. They can piss off. I will be using that 20 bucks for strings or a new instument cable. **** happens, the kid needs to take the loss like a man and stop complaining.

    Former bassist!

Well I am excited to start on something new and to finally play something out of drop D....hopefully. Also its not Anthony is as good as me, he is better. I wont deny this. About making it hard for the drummer. Like I said, I am positive his parents pay for his gas. Also the fact he is making...

    Former bassist!

Okay okay okay. first, no band no money. Simple as that. I am not paying the drummer the 20 bucks if they booted me from the band. They can piss off. I am not looking for anyone on here to feel sorry for me. Trust me I do agree with a lot of you about how 5 months is more then enough time to...
  20. R

    Former bassist!

Well the other guy is the vocalist. Now I know he is a better bassist then me so it makes sense. Yet pisses me off seeing how I brought the cat into the band and now I am being the one booted. Especially after he started so much drama with the band. Also, if I find out he is playing the exact...

    Former bassist!

Wow man, as fellow musicians I thought a lot of you would actually kind of understand where I was coming from. Guess not. Either way no big deal. I can see where everyone is coming from. I still feel this was a stupid reason to kick me out. But its their choice, not mine. Now about oweing...

    Former bassist!

No man. It was after an argument with the guitarist about it. Which all stems back to 20 bucks. I've told the drummer as soon as I had it he would have it in his hands. He said okay. Every time. He never said one word to me about it. No one did actually, even yesterday at practice. No, cause...

    Former bassist!

Im not really whining about it. More or less sharing my story and showing how petty these cats are. It was a stupid reason to kick me out. (and yes for the last time so everyone else will shut up, it was a long time to not pay it back) However I never wanted to spend that money to begin with...

    Former bassist!

Well if you guys would of kicked me out of your band too cause of 20 bucks then piss off. That is a horribly stupid reason to kick someone out. Plus it just shows how cheap you really are. No matter what way you wanna look at it. Sure I should of just given him the 20, or even small amounts...
  25. R

    Former bassist!

It's not that I couldn't pay it back. It's that I didn't have an extra 20 bucks to give him. Once I had the extra cash I would of thrown it his way. I have been on a very limited income. However like I said, I just got a new job an all and my paycheck should be here by saturday at the...
  26. R

    Former bassist!

Yes I know it was only 20 bucks and it took me over 5 months to pay it back, but with my previous financial situation I could not afford to fork up that 20 bucks. I either A) needed it for bills or B) needed it for gas money to get around. Especially for practice. Again, they would of had that...

    Former bassist!

preaching to the choir man. Like I said before. If they waited 5 months to do this what is a few more days or a week tops? I should be getting a nice paycheck within the next few days. Then I would of paid him. Oh well, their loss.
  28. R

    Former bassist!

I am not into this for the money. Just the love of music. Money is a bonus, however that is not my main objective. I just want to play, I love being on stage and having so much fun. Playing and preforming is what I live for. It is all ruined now. Well at least for a little bit, I hope.

What's the best compliment you've ever received as a bass player?

I've been told and heard of people saying that I am entertaining to watch.

    Former bassist!

Yeah that is right. I was kicked out of my band! At least it was an awesome 6 months while it lasted. If anyone is interested in my story you can find it at my blog: www.rzm61.blogspot.com It really sucks man. :(

Well Insane. Your handle does speak for you in this situation. (Don't take offense man. I am still going through it. We...

    Singers are probably the worst.

first bass to give you GAS?

Thank you dave64o. I've only owned one bass. Which is my current one. My Yamaha RBX170. Its okay. Nothing too crazy. It works for me. I want to get either a Warwick or a Rickenbacker though.

first bass to give you GAS?

So I hate to ask this and seem like a n00b, but what do you guys mean by GAS?

    Backbone of your band

So, it is hard to decide who is the backbone of my band. I would say mostly the drummer because without him we would have no where to practice and also we would have to pay a decent ammount of money to record (we do all of our **** in his basement for free) However now it is our attention...
