    Warmoth Frets and Binding

I think you can, by way of the custom neck builder. EDIT: nevermind, i just tried it. its 21 or 24 frets only... Maybe send them an email and ask real nice?

    Funniest beginner mistake/blunder?

Probably mine was trying to remove the glue in the nut slot with acetone nailpolish remover, and thus destroying a large part of the nitro finish on the neck. This so I could ultimately remove the nut I had broken with a (too) large A string. Ended up sending it to a pro, which was a bit of a...

2 Types of bassists it seems....

I upgraded recently from a 2x10 markbass combo to a 700RBII head with a homebuilt BFM Omni 15 TB (15'' woofer. 8' mid' 1" tweet, all more or less hornloaded). I haven't played any louder than I used to but the thing just sounds better for various reasons. It's closer to ear level, the rig moves...

How do you fix an old rattling cab?

It could be someting inside one of the drivers, under the dustcap. In my old cab, a piece of the leads that go into the cone of the driver came loose and was stuck behind the dustcap, giving a rattling noise. If thats the case you'll have to remove the dustcap.

Thickening up the sound of a jazz bass

Flats are indeed a good start, and maybe a slight boost in the lower midrange on your amp. That's the way I did it.

    GK800RB vs 1001RB II vs 700RB II

Will a 700RBII paired with an 8ohm cab hit the rails faster? This would be ideal for small gigs while another extra 8 ohm cab will be more suited for the bigger shows. Hope this is correct? I'm real close to actually buying that kind of setup.

Cannot hear bass at large venue

Or try to not go over the monitors and only use the amp? I never go over monitors personally, although I can imagine that with a 100w amp you might want to.

Dealing with Mediocre Live Sound Support

It'll probably always be a learning experience. I also agree with getting a good soundman to do all your shows. Having one that knows what you like and knows your songs is really the best thing to have. It makes set up and sound checking a breeze too. Plus that a good soundman can make any room...

Dealing with Mediocre Live Sound Support

My personal experience has always been that the only way to learn setting stage mixes is to learn the hard way, by doing alot of shows at alot of different venues. There isn't a better learning school IMO. How else are you going learn to adjust to the different room acoustics/ wooden stages etc...

What the heck??? Fender 60's Custom Shop Pickups

My custom shop P pickup had that too, it's a real pain in the behind because i'm a lefty. Had to desolder the whole thing and get the cushoning off and resolder whith the copper plate turned around.

Gallien-Krueger Official Club Thread: part II

Hello people, I think the official club is the right place to ask some GK questions... Currently i have a Markbass 210 combo that i thought I liked, but in the summer i played a festival with a GK 800RB and what I think was a GK 410RBH cab. This setup blew me away and I pretty much knew right...

    questions about my GK 1001RB

You know, touching circuit boards on a 700w amp while it's on isn't really a smart thing to do... unless you don't like life.

Coco Bongo and the Bonfire Ranch of Love

It definately is de 'greatest', yes. =] A bit weather dependant though, and there are cows sometimes. Great room acoustics though! The real 'studio' is the little house in the background which is actually someones livingroom.

Coco Bongo and the Bonfire Ranch of Love

Here's a video of my band rehearsing outside in the grassy fields of the dutch countryside. A passer by with a camera shot this and sent us the material. The camera mic picked up alot of the bass so it might sound a bit boomy (and a bit sloppy at times, but thats more my fault =] ) Thought...

Being at the back of the stage!

I'm in an 8 man band with 3 singers, two of them also on guitar (they take turns every other song) and a saxophone player. So on small stages i'm behind them next to the drummer. It's just the way it is, and i don't mind. You'll become sort of the stong silent type at the back that laying down...

    Warmoth basses

They pre drill the neck screw holes and bridge mount holes. The rest you have to do yourself. (Tuner holes they do also, only the little screws to keep the tuners in place you have to do yourself)

Worst gig mishap (yours or fellow band member)

I once had to do 1 song in drop D only did not notice we swapped songs in the setlist. I tried to transpose but in the panic F'ed it up even more. It sounded terrible. It was the last song though en the audience was wasted so I still like to believe nobody noticed.

    Mesa Walkabout in Europe

I'd use a voltage converter. Heavy duty for continuous use. Something like this: http://www.voltageconverters.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=VC500W I know some amp manufacturers put in switchable transformers in their export models (from US to Europe) including Mesa. To be sure what to do I'd...

    Why Don't People....

I'm building a Bill Fitzmaurice cab right now. I'm thinking multiple colors of tolex for it or some kind of graphic on the front. I'm definately going to do something out of the ordinary with it.

    Converting left handed to right

saddles are easy, on an old style bridge the screws and springs for intonation might be placed in reverse (screws and springs for the g string are longer) but they can be removed and swapped. For the nut I would go to a repair guy who can fit a new one as you can easily screw it up doing it...

Help!! Flats are infesting the herd!

I finally made the switch to flats this week, I had them lying around for months now but was afraid to put them on as I'm gigging quite often and was afraid it would affect my playing too much. It took me a while to get used to it as I dig in quite hard, but holy @#$% this is nice. They make me...

Just Got My First (and last) Warmoth Jazz Neck

Well you know, I can only comment on my neck which is fine (also has the vintage fret wire btw). But maybe they !@#$ up on yours. Doesn't change the fact that you got a potentially awesome neck after a little bit of work, right? Anyways, good luck.

    Do you actually dislike guitarists?

Good point about guitar being most popular and thus attracting more retards, which is simple statistics. Thanks for clarifying the 'treated as lesser musicians' part, I can imagine that happening. It's just not my experience (yet) and thus didn't see that as a reason.

    Do you actually dislike guitarists?

I seriously don't understand what some bassists have against guitarists, is it some kind of inferiority complex? Can't handle that a guitarists role - can - consist of soloing which draws attention while a bassist is generally there to keep the pocket? If a guitarist is a prick, hes just what...

Will a normal right handed J-bass nut work on a left handed bass?

Took it to a qualified repairguy, this stuff is clearly way beyond my capability. Nearly destroyed the nitro finish trying to dissolve the glue with acetone (I hereby nominate myself for a Darwin award) Funny though, It's a Warmoth bass I put together myself while nearly destroying the whole...
