New (to me) Amp Day: Carvin B500 w/ a Dr. Bass Cab!

Thanks! It has a 15" speaker, and it has a tweeter. I really do like the speaker on this thing. The guy who showed me the amp swapped the Dr. Bass for a Markbass 15", and I preferred the Dr. Bass! If only he wasn't such a scumbag... :( I think I'll keep it. Sketchy business practices aside...

New (to me) Amp Day: Carvin B500 w/ a Dr. Bass Cab!

Got this at Guitar Center today for about $400. For my first giggable amp, it sounds fantastic. I know there's a lot of hate towards Dr. Bass for all the crap he did, but he sure makes some decent sounding stuff. Sorry for the crap pic, my iPod has a crap camera.

Noob Question: Gain and Volume on an SS amp

Can anybody tell me what the difference is between the gain and the master volume is on a Solid State Amp? I know that on a tube amp, the gain ups the volume to the preamp, so that you can get more of that tubey goodness, but is that necessary on a Solid State? Or do I just not know what I'm...

    Most awkward gig(s)

Nothing bass related, but funny anyhow. My school's symphonic band makes a bi-annual field trips. Last year, it was to Quebec for three days, and a stop at Six Flags on the way home. Had an absolute blast, saw some amazing scenery, stayed in some comfy hotels, and put on two concerts...

Best crappy guitar to usb interface?

You could just get a 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter and plug it into your mic jack on your PC (or mac.) It's definitely a cheaper option. I use one, and got it for $3 at my local music store. Invalid Link Removed

First Build! Guitar for my brother

    How do you pronounce "4001"?

My sixth-grade math teacher would yell at us every time we said and without meaning a decimal. Therefore, we could not say "four thousand and one" in her classroom. Luckily, sixth-grade is long gone, (maybe not, I'm in ninth grade) and I can now call it whatever the heck I please. (I refer...

Horrible albums by great bands/solo artists

Ever hear of an album entitled "The Wall"? I'm not sure if it was successful enough to gain much attention, as it was only a 23x platinum album with a movie based off of it, but I'm pretty sure Waters wrote most, if not all, of it :rollno:

What would you do in my place?

It looks like you need to go with the amp. There are multiple reasons 1) You're not happy with your amp. You need a new one. You are eying a Jazz Bass. You want one. There is a difference. 2) Jazz Basses will be around as long a Fender stays in business, so you should put your needs in...

    Geddy Lee was kidnapped!

You're lucky. My school has a bass made by "Phantom" whoever that is. The action is about 1/2 an inch high (no joke), and the jack is crap. Once you find a position where you are not getting this terrible, loud, buzzing noise, you can not move. at all. That's why I bring my bass to school, but...
