Use a 3PDT switch. You'd have to wire it pickups -> 3 way selector -> 3PDT switch -> tone/vol
Actually, now that I think of it, a DPDT will do. But it has to be on/on/on. Also a 3PDT or 4PDT on/on/on might be easier to wire.
Also, this thread seems to have...
I would say 300W+ because it's a nice number and roughly twice as loud as a 30W amp which the guitarist might be using. But since you're playing bass the difference will be less and it will all be nice and everyone will be happy.
My bass weighs roughly twice as much as the guitar I have right now. That is the only thing putting me off playing bass. I really don't have any problems playing guitar, but I'm better at bass due to practice.
Tune it the way you always do. If you're worried about the neck, etc., get a custom stringset from circle k strings or somewhere so that all the strings have roughly the same tension (or more on the higher strings, etc.) in the tuning you like.
Also, try running a clean boost into your Bad Monkey. I don't know if it will help, but I really like the way I can go from almost clean sound to full-on distortion with my BM and EMG-equipped bass.
I'm probably going to try building a Fender champ clone (not a kit though) this summer, hopefully. My goal is to build my whole rig and my bass, but I think that might take a few years, if not decades... :P
I only depend on fret dots a little; I like to practice at night with the lights off, and also my bass has a tribal inlay, so I only have the side markers (not a big deal, I know).
Quite possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! I've bookmarked this thread, I keep meaning to build a bass myself, but I never get around to it. Someday...
