    Okay, Who LOOKS The Coolest?

I dunno, I don't think you killed the thread. Marco is pretty awesome. Here's one WITH pants but I also gotta give it up to Steve (as previously mentioned) nikki sixx (one of my heros who i've actually had the pleasure to meet) Link Removed and the one person I'm really suprised...

From Purchase to Installation, what is your experience with Bartolini?

rather than complain about the customer service, why don't whip up a diagram of your bass, put up the diagram they did give you, and see if tb diy guys can help you out?

What Little Mod Made All The Difference?

putting a push pull pot on my sr300 to kill the boost. I did this to turn the eq off when i wasn't using it, but ended up loving the passive tone out of it, and then hitting the boost when I played a little lead line or something. What was supposed to be battery conservation on my bass ended up...

101 Best Stompboxes Of All Time from Guitarist Magazine

Truth. A few at the top make quite a bit of sense. TS808, Cry baby. But how the big muff, uni-vibe, rat, and maybe even the dyna comp aren't at the top as well make no sense. And i'll give you the comment on the keeley compressor, where is that at?! No TimeFactor either... It's neither the most...

Why doesn't Ibanez have more colors

In a way, you can't really fault them for staying with a certain theme or character. It's a lot of oiled finishes for the mid line stuff, nicer transparent warm colours for the higher end stuff. SR500 oiled, SR700 transparent amber/charcoal. My RGT220H oiled finish, my RGT320Q regal brown burst...

sweet. I didn't think it would be toooo much cash. Yorkville is generally pretty decent about that.

    Bass Chorus talk....

truth. nothing but noise with the digitech one, and couldn't even tell when the ceb-3 was on. I bought a T-Rex one. Killer.

    Which MXR Compressor?

well I for one am happy to see them making a dedicated bass one. I used to run a Dynacomp but it really sucked the low end out for me. top and mids stuff sounded great, but i really had to crank the bass knob on my amp quite high. I have since gone to a T.C. unit and never looked back.

what's better 4 bass phaser or flanger?

i love my boss hf-2 hi-band flanger on my bass. I use it with my chorus underneath and it just gives me a watery sweet sound for some mellow lead lines. I don't use it all the time, but it's definitely a good usable sound. so my vote is flanger.

    Ibanez SR700 "stock" strings...

no, but if he wanted to get a feel for them, he could just take one off the wall play it and get a vague idea if he wants to buy a set to really try them out. no harm no foul.

1959 Fender factory tour video found!

think of all the incredible pieces of music history created by that man. how many great musicians wrote and played the stuff that changed music as we know, and how much of came from him or anyone one of them... incredible.

gotta agree. Drummer = Recording Tech / lyrics / webstuff Lead Guitbox/Singer = gig getter / lyrics / riffs / webstuff Rhythm Guitbox = riffs / merch Bassist = Theory / Techy Guy / lyrics / arranger / webstuff arranger is a weird job, but it normally happens as such: guit 1: hey, check...

Most Unprofessional Thing You've Done at a Show

Truth. I think that would've earned me props. I think the first for me was when our band was first together. We hadn't been playing for very long together and decided that a good way to feel things out was to hit up some jam nights at some local bars. The first night went pretty decent...

Pics showing you and your very 1st bass

That would be me playing my sr300 Link Removed Link Removed I come from a line of bassists. This is my dad and his first bass circa 1974. It's a Jazz copy with DiMarzios. I'm not sure if they were in that picture, but it had some when I was growing up. Sadly that bass burnt when our house...

What effects/filters are a must have?

for me personally, the two that i turn on and leave on all the time, are my T.C. Nova Dynamics, one half compressor one half noise gate, and my T-Rex TheSweeper. Subtle studio mode compressor just seems like a must for the majority of time, and I've just fallen in love with big thick chorusy...

Why do you own the basses you own?

Mine's very very simple. I was asked to play bass in a band. I didn't own a bass. I stole my dads SR300. I love the thing. Fast neck, soooo easy to play. It's got some dimarzio model p/j's coming it's way, and i put in a push/pull to kill the boost off to save 9v power when it's on stage...

How many of you use two basses at a live gig

to the sound guy problems, why don't you guys just run an a/b box that has volume leveling? works great for me, sound guy doesn't have to do anything different. both are plugged in. 2 basses, 2 straps, 2 cables, 1 a/b pedal. it's less than a 5 second change over.

Need an Ibanez aficionado... Have an SR question

i also have an older model sr505, definetely oil finished, not black, not red. it has barts, no switch, not missing the switch at all. there is a sr525 at the music shop by me now, i tried the mid-switch thingy, didn't really like or dislike it, just thought it was an extra toy. easy open...

What are the flaws on your bass?

SR300 - phat boost is unreliable. and annoying. pickups are super weak without it. It's getting DiMarzio'd SR505 - neck is still a little too thick for my liking. i was a jackson/ibanez guitarist before i really picked up a bass. and the rotosounds i put on it. that was my own mistake.

what do you keep in your bass case?

2 patch cables, tuner, picks and my strap. I have a couple army surplus ammo boxes for everything else. one has pliers, screwdrivers, strings, 9-volts, winder, allen keys etc... , and the other box is loaded with cables. all of our cables and little pieces of gear are colour coded and get thrown...

    sellers beware this SCAM

Anyone ditch the band for the family?

Mine is a different perspective. I'm 25, married with no kids. One of the guitarists in our band has a 6 year old and another one due right away. He is ridiculously dedicated to the band, and we appreciate it to the point of we generally are scheduling things around his work and his family, and...

How loud do you need to be?

i wouldn't say we have a volume war on our hands in our band, but i do find it excessively loud sometimes. both guitarists are playing through half stacks, which i don't mind, but one is 60w and the other is 100w. i've never had any problem with stage volumes with my 30w combo or 50w half stack...

How many of you use two basses at a live gig

always. there are some faster thrashier (i made up my own word, i know) that i just feel a lot more comfortable on my old 4 string. that being said, i've written or re-written the vast majority of our songs on my 5, so it gets played most often. and it's always nice to have a back up. I bought a...

What made you decide to play bass?

Mine's a combined effort. My dad had a few guitars and a jazz bass as well as a ton of synth recording stuff growing up, so i'd toyed with everything as a kid. Jr.high rolled around and i found myself playing trombone in school and a drummer in a cadet marching band. eventually i wound up first...

I m a noob and need advice about effects

i've had a zoom pedal for my guitar rig for years now,no reliability issues . i've got nearly full pedal boards for both guitar and bass now and i still use the zoom from time to time for practice stuff. it's a great n00b tool and a great "i don't feel like firing up 700watts of bass right now...

Boss ODB-3 vs Digitech Bass Driver

    The worst basslines ever....

really? that's one of the reasons i picked up a bass in the first place. it was a moving driving line behind an otherwise boring song. however, i'm with the dude on the seven nation army stuff... that ***** terrible.
