Check out those little One Control mini pedals. I have the Crimson Red Bass Preamp. AKA the dub switch. I like it was a bass boost, I like it as a secondary tone switch for all my drives.

Anybody using the PMLE or Venus with a two channel Sushi pedal? Do you just go clean, dirty, and dirtier? Dirty Magic Dream Catcher over here giving me dirty looks after I ordered the PMLE.

Anybody know what the Low Blow is based on? Haven't heard anything like it. That notch switch really sets it apart, too. Smooth with the notch engaged is so good. Jagged is solid, too, but I have fuzz for days on my board.

Mine has a little hiss and feedback when engaged but not playing. But I have it set to blatant. Nothing a volume pedal or volume knob between songs can't help hide if you're using it live.

I know we're tube tyrannical around these parts but hear me out: Dreamcatcher red channel in a smaller enclosure, no tubes. Hosomaki Series Sushi Boxes. Maybe a switch for a mid notch filter, the discontinued Wampler Low Blow had one. Made a huge difference cutting though while heavily saturated.

I don't know how people set their Sushi to unity volumes. Sounds so good cranked! (didn't like my neighbors anyway)

Another vote for tube octave. In as big as an enclosure as it needs to be in for one octave above and below, a fifth above, and dry signal. Cog Effects adds some kind of tone knob to the octave signal, that could fun.

MIDI controllers with the alternate function where you hold down the button for an alternate command (like the DMC.micro Pro), how are you all using the alternate command with your C4?

I was mainly asking if I'm going to miss out on much if I use the 1/4" out a lot more than the D.I., looks like the differences are subtle.

Finally question: If the Lightning Boy transformer inside is only for the DI output and not the 1/4" output, is there a drop off in sound quality if you mainly use the 1/4" out?

How much better is a pedal in the $180-200 range (like the Smoothie and Becos) than something I can get for $100-120 like a Keeley Compressor Pro or a Wampler Ego?

So, what IS the tone magic that some compressors have? Seems like it's either a bit of EQ shenanigans or a bit of tube warmth? Is it just baked in goodness versus having a more transparent compressor?
