I don't know what you're going to call the Ampeg pedals going forward, but I personally love the Redacted names. Really checks the UNBRIDLED SASS box. I vote to keep Redacted.

The purple Keeley Nocturne I just got and the dirty magic Dreamcatcher over here would look good next to that. You're killin' me. 🤣

Mayday! It's live. Is it the Per My Last Email in purple? Purple My Last Email? Looks great.

I don't know, things feel pretty sassy when I crank the volume on my Dreamcatcher. 😂

Check out those little One Control mini pedals. I have the Crimson Red Bass Preamp. AKA the dub switch. I like it was a bass boost, I like it as a secondary tone switch for all my drives.

Just a beaut! Worst part is that I don't get to play it till the end of the month because I'll be in Vegas. Actually, the worst part was probably how I ran out onto my front lawn in my underwear to capture the sparkles in the best light. More escaped mental patient vibes. Sorry, neighbors!

So what were the first pieces of Sushi? I discovered Sushi when the Two Notes Revolt was about to drop and I decided to look up what my multi channel tube pedal options were. Came across some thread that mentioned Sushi and thought "oh hell yeah this freaking lunatic is shoving tubes in every...

Anybody using the PMLE or Venus with a two channel Sushi pedal? Do you just go clean, dirty, and dirtier? Dirty Magic Dream Catcher over here giving me dirty looks after I ordered the PMLE.

I resisted getting the Per My Last Email during the first run. It was down to the last unit. I told myself if it was still there in the morning, I'd swoop. It was not. A little bummed, a little relieved. Randomly looked at the Sushi site the other day, saw the PMLE. Felt kinda like this...

    Wampler Low Blow - Finally!

Anybody know what the Low Blow is based on? Haven't heard anything like it. That notch switch really sets it apart, too. Smooth with the notch engaged is so good. Jagged is solid, too, but I have fuzz for days on my board.

    Wampler Low Blow - Finally!

Mine has a little hiss and feedback when engaged but not playing. But I have it set to blatant. Nothing a volume pedal or volume knob between songs can't help hide if you're using it live.

It's the Boss Bass EQ. Just a lil bump in the lows and then a tiny volume cut to get it sounding closer to unity volume but fatter. Entire board minus that and the two delays runs into the Dreamcatcher. Blue channel EQ all nearly dimed, volume close to dimed, gain as much clean as I can get...

I know we keep it classy around here, but I am here to talk about the girth. Oh the girth! Tone just thicc now. Dreamcatcher, blue channel stock tube swapped out for a 12AU7 (JJ ECC802S). Hit so hard. And then I clicked on my EQ pedal that's set up as a bass boost after the Sushi and I felt like...

I basically do the same thing. Delay pedals last, everything else running into the Dreamcatcher tube goodness.

Dreamcatcher. Especially if you already like the UA. That red channel is just wicked.

First impressions of the Dreamcatcher: Too gorgeous to step on. That Dirty Magic, I said got dang. What a beauty. The red channel is murder. Should've called this pedal the Dream Crusher. So wonderfully thick and heavy. Love it. Curious of a tube swap to get a wider range of gain. My setup...

But did the solid state Kitten go as feral as the Dreamcatcher red channel? Running something burly like the DC red channel at max aggression into the tube goodness of the DC red set "responsibly dirty" is the idea. I don't want to catch dreams I want to catch nightmares. Ha ha.

I know we're tube tyrannical around these parts but hear me out: Dreamcatcher red channel in a smaller enclosure, no tubes. Hosomaki Series Sushi Boxes. Maybe a switch for a mid notch filter, the discontinued Wampler Low Blow had one. Made a huge difference cutting though while heavily saturated.

I don't know how people set their Sushi to unity volumes. Sounds so good cranked! (didn't like my neighbors anyway)

Another vote for tube octave. In as big as an enclosure as it needs to be in for one octave above and below, a fifth above, and dry signal. Cog Effects adds some kind of tone knob to the octave signal, that could fun.

    source audio c4

MIDI controllers with the alternate function where you hold down the button for an alternate command (like the DMC.micro Pro), how are you all using the alternate command with your C4?

I was mainly asking if I'm going to miss out on much if I use the 1/4" out a lot more than the D.I., looks like the differences are subtle.

Finally question: If the Lightning Boy transformer inside is only for the DI output and not the 1/4" output, is there a drop off in sound quality if you mainly use the 1/4" out?

I hope this is the longest thread I'll ever read, because I don't wanna read another 800 page thread again. No new gear can come out at this point that'll make me need to read so far in depth like this tube preamp search I've been on. Between here, the massive compression thread that preceded my...

Which box of Sushi has the best lows? For dub reggae, and the times I need fat, clean bass for certain C4 Synth settings that don't like grit afterward. Hoping for some two channel Sushi so I can have a dirty channel going when I'm not playing dub, but if one of the smaller units is the way to...

    Two Notes Revolt Bass

I've never had an amp preference. Played Trace as a kid, then bought an SVT4. For practices and smaller shows, it's my lil blue Ampeg solid state combo. I run a 4 foot pedalboard, got aggressive drives covered, just need a touch of grit for one channel and clean & punchy for the other times I...

    Two Notes Revolt Bass

Currently running a VT Bass Deluxe into a BK Butler Real Tube pedal with a 12AU7 and the gain knob between 1 and 2. Two Notes Revolt Bass

Has anybody played both the Revolt Bass and one of those tube preamps by Sushi Box? Wondering how the tones compare? I was all set to buy a LeBass, but then heard the Revolt was coming out. Waited on that to drop, but just discovered Sushi Box. Now I don't know what to impulse buy, too many...

I asked Becos if they had any new products on the horizon as it seems like every time I buy a pedal, a few months later the company I buy from comes out with a newer/better version, he says in the coming months they are going to put out a dual band compressor.

How much better is a pedal in the $180-200 range (like the Smoothie and Becos) than something I can get for $100-120 like a Keeley Compressor Pro or a Wampler Ego?

Testing Compressors: Cali, Smoothie, Empress, Diamond, Keeley, FEA, Darkglass, Doc Lloyd, Lusithand & more

So, what IS the tone magic that some compressors have? Seems like it's either a bit of EQ shenanigans or a bit of tube warmth? Is it just baked in goodness versus having a more transparent compressor?

OK, you lovable compressor maniacs. I've read all of the pages here, all the Bongo and Scuba wisdom, I've narrowed down the best choices to my knowledge for me (and my budget, ha ha), watched videos, read more reviews, and then logged into talkbass for the first time since 2011 just to ask you...
