No one wants to hear me demo a pedal. 🤣 That guitar demo video definitely helped sell me on it.

Catalinbread Proto X/F just landed. The latest in a series of limited runs at a nice price for feedback before deciding whether to put it into regular production. Choruses the highs, phases the lows with an adjustable crossover point. Pretty wild!

    Knats

These guys are amazing and the bass player is smokin'. Searched and didn't see anything about them.

Updated the Baby Max with a switch to scroll through the Bass Synth presets, and swapped out the EQD Spatial Delivery for an MXR Bass Envelope Filter. This board is, dare I say, done!

    Nope, it’s a Casio.

My new band’s first tune. Roast me. 😀

Thanks! That chorus-y sounding part is low As accompanied by double stops all the way at the top of the neck. I think the low note wobbles a bit and makes it sound effected. It’s my Warwick Dolphin 5 straight into the board.

My new band’s first tune. Roast me. 😀

This is a riff I had in my head for years and never even tried to play it ‘cause I was always in rock bands. Now I’ve got a 6-piece group that’s a little more versatile. The horn is courtesy of a neighborhood pal, we don’t have a horn in the band yet. We have a few more like this, plus...

    The Fifths Tuning Club

Thanks! This is a 35" scale bass. Your intervals look more sensible. A .118 D certainly would handle that drop to low B better. My thinking was: Low D is .111 in the La Bella DGCF set I used to play and .110 was as close as I could get. I always use .085 for A. I messed up the E, thinking it was...

    The Fifths Tuning Club

I just tuned my Roscoe fretless 5-string in 5ths with magnificent results! It helps to have a neck that doesn't budge. Low to high: D-A-E-B-F# The low string has a Hipshot D-tuner, which I set to B. So I've got a poor man's 7-string. I went with these gauges: .110-.085-.070-.035-.020 It plays...

    Roscoe Club

Hey guys! Long time no see! I just had to pay tribute to Keith and crew for this amazing 2016 build (Gard-era 😎) It was originally tuned B-G. A few years ago, I switched to E-C tuning and the neck didn’t break a sweat. No nut slot issues, either. I had to tweak the action on the E but that’s it...

Janek Gwizdala tries John Pattitucci’s Bass

I didn’t listen to the interview so this may have been covered, but Janek has spoken about spending a day with John years ago, when Janek was keeping his action basically on the other side of the neck. He credited playing John’s bass with getting him to start raising his action a hair at a time...

Fuzz addict club! If you don't like it fuzz off!

I haven’t gigged it yet, but the wah sounds amazing. You don’t need an expression pedal but it gives you more options.

    Best inexpensive tuner pedal

EHX 2020. I recently bought a new one for $60.

Fuzz addict club! If you don't like it fuzz off!

I've owned and tried a pretty good assortment of fuzz pedals and this, hands down, is the best. It also does killer sub-octave, filter, tremolo, wah and synth sounds, all at once if you want. But the fuzz is the star.

NPD and the self-imposed end of the road!

Anticipating an overseas move next year, I recently sold a bunch of pedals and cut it from five boards down to two. But I kept a small board and power supply just in case… Did I mention I sold a bunch of pedals? I took some money and decided to find a Swiss Army knife. It didn’t take long...

I decided five boards is too many and the mini boards weren’t really doing it for me. A friend has the Ghostfire Baby Max, 27” single row with 9 pedals on it. I said, that’s the ticket. I started with 14 pedals and 9 survived on this amazing board. Everything plays with everything else...

    Show me your pedalboard

I am cutting myself off at five boards! Just rearranged some stuff to make it more band-friendly and everything sounds so good. The Bass Synth/Double Dragon board in particular is like the voice of the all powerful.

    Octave up suggestions?

The JHS Double Dragon has my favorite octave up. It is monophonic, though, so tracking is a little glitchy by design, moreso on the sub octave. Killer pedal, though.

So, what happened was… 🤪 Joyo is doing power supply + pedal bundles. The power supply was noisy and got returned but I kept the flanger, which sounds pretty great. And then needed company. But this had to be a cut-rate job. The pedals run on batteries and the board was free from my kitchen! Even...

    Envelope Filter questions

I just got one and love it!

Show me your compact pedalboard setup

The Double Dragon had to be had! What a cool pedal. Sounds amazing with the fuzz and plays nicely with a couple of the Bass Synth presets. Switched the order around a couple of times, the Big Muff seems to want to be first, noisewise. Thoughts?

    Bass Big Muff Pi 2

It would have been cool of them to let us know this was coming. But then they wouldn’t have sold so many Big Muff 2s to people like me. 😀
