Don’t be surprised if you have to roll off a fair bit of low end with the Thunderbird when doing downstrokes. There’ll still be plenty there but you’ll be amazed at what an earth shaker it is!

I don’t have them on my Thunderbird but have a set on my P-bass. CJ Ramone uses them, they’re great for that aggressive, downstroke style and have a decent life.

it was made in September 2017, so definitely a Vintage Pro and not the newer 60s Bass version. Looks like a rosewood fretboard to me, I have an Indian Laurel fretboard P Bass and it’s much lighter than that.

This could be down to Epiphone’s rebranding. They changed the name of the Vintage Pro to the Thunderbird 60s Bass fairly recently. The VP listings state rosewood fingerboard whilst the 60s Bass say Indian Laurel. It’s not impossible they might have an older model in stock that has a rosewood...

That could well be the case, the pickups do actually move up and down, it’s just that the screws protrude above the hole when they’re raised which doesn’t look great.

There is some uncertainty that comes with the renaming of the Vintage Classic Pro to the Thunderbird 60s Bass. Epiphone say that they’ve renamed it but the Vintage Classic Pro was a through neck construction whereas the 60s Bass is listed as having a glued in neck. I only found one store online...

It is! I have this Thunderbird and case. I don’t think they’re the factory strings though, from the red silks and coloured ball ends, I’d say they’re Rotosound Swing Bass strings.
