Dingwall NG3 5 string for sale in the hard to find Mopar purple color. It is in excellent condition and plays/sounds fantastic. Best best string in the business, and a ton of tonal options. Very even tone across the strings due to it being multiscale, and is very resonant when not plugged in. It...
Hey! Cleaning out my desk and found two sets of strings I purchased in 2022 for my Dingwall ABZ. Sold the Dingwall so I'm gonna sell these new strings that I don't need!
Unopened, new strings. Two sets for a 5 string. $65 for both sets together, shipped.

Took a punt on this two days ago on eBay when a B-stock came up for £200... figured there wasn’t much to lose at that price point.
Here she is next to my Dingwall Super P5:
My initial impression is that it’s insane how they are selling these for £299. This one at £200 is probably as many as...
I'm looking to get a custom bass. Seems simple enough. Problem is, I've commissioned two basses and have had various issues with luthiers getting sick, changing details, not meeting deadlines (by years in one case). Does anyone have a good recommendation for a Luthier to build a 6 string...
Every time I've picked up a 5 string bass at a store the B string seemed rather clunky and not very musical.
But maybe an extra long scale helps? 35 inches or more.
However the longer scale could be quite a stretch and harder to move around the fret board.
Maybe a fanned fret bass would...
This is what i was doing the last 2 years (and a little more months)
Its a torzal twisted neck,47-44"scale,headles,5-string bass.
Many special thanks to @Clifford Lee and @MPU for their help and advice.
So,here the pics.
Enjoy.
Here, compared side by side with a 34" scale VIG cobra bass...
Fantastic bass. I seem to be the exception in that I prefer the EMG preamp in the Combustions to the Darkglass preamp in the NG-- purchased another combustion so this one has to go. This finish was discontinued in 2018, so I believe this is the only model year with Lambo orange and the new...

Lowered to $1600.
Buyer pays shipping.
I can meet within a 2-hour drive of Chattanooga (Nashville, ATL, etc.)
Just about mint condition. Fairly new set of DR hi-beam taper-core on it now. The magnet that is glued into the battery cavity to hold the little door on doesn't stick very well for...

Okay, sorry, sensationalist thread title. Here's the skinny:
I'm considering a new 5-string. I've played them off and on over the years and played a 6-string fretted and fretless exclusively for a couple of years back in the early 90s (the old Carvin LB76s). I just prefer 4-strings for the most...
I am puzzled. No low B ever sounded tighter and more inline with the other strings then that of a Warwick Thumb NT or Dolphin Pro1, and those are 34" scale.
Please explain to me why fanned frets are an improvement for their purpose eludes me right now.
I want to experience GAS for a Dingwall.
So I've had this bad boy for a few days now and absolutely love the way it plays, feels, and sounds! I almost immediately fell in love with the comfort of the neck and the lightweight of this sucker. The only downside for me is that I'm just not into active basses. I'm a little old school and...

I`m tossing around the idea of getting a fanned fret 5 string. From what I`ve seen in videos, both sound and look good. I once owned a Dingwall Afterburner 1 and I found the stretch at the lower frets (particularly the B string) to be a bit awkward. The Kiesel may be better for me as the scale...
For those who don't like, want or need a fifth wheel.
I actually like the new color, Deep Twilight, but maybe someone should tell the people at Ibanez it isn't that much different from the black-stained FF805s. Seriously, this would look even better in Surreal Blue Burst or Autumn Fade Metallic...
Hello colleagues,
Just saw that Cort launched a new model, single cut with fanned fret system, the model is called A5 Plus SCFF. Since I'm a fan of FF system I was wondering if someone of you was at NAMM and tried it.
thanks!
Al
Trying to thin the herd. Up for sale is my Ibanez fanned fret 6er. Only reason I'm selling is I never have much use for the B string. I prefer playing an E-C 5 string. Bought this brand new from Sweetwater 2 years ago when they came out. Very comfortable and easy to play. Easier to adjust...

After several builds where I learned a lot, it is time to go to the next challenge and do a fanned frets bass.
I have played 5 strings basses but I don't like them, so I do a 4 string bass.
Design considerations:
- scale 35inch for E string, scale 34 inch for G string
- perpendicular fret: 8...
VEey curious to see if anyone here has any experience with this:

I'm curious about fanned frets, but would never buy anything too expensive so this seems like a good choice. But I want to hear real-world experiences with the brand. I have bought SX before and thought they were...
So I bought a bass off a guy, all fine and dandy, nothing shady. Some minor dinks which he was honest about. Honestly I cant remember if he told me, but, he filed the nut down on the bottom 2 strings.
The main issue being the bottom string, he filed it down to fit a .170 and I use a .135. The...
Hi everyone.
I own a Schecter Stiletto Studio 6-string, which has a 35 inch scale. It could handle tuning down all the way to G#, but after tuning it even lower to G (GCFAD#G#) the thickest string became too loose, too hard to tune and even harder to get the intonation right. I do not plan to...
Always wanted to try the fanned fret world. Well here we go. Just noodled for a few minutes and already see it is a quick transition. Very light also!! My XB75 Carvin Is 35 1\4'' scale so not much of and adjustment.
Please PM questions.
I got this in a trade and I'm playing more 4 string so not getting any use. It's in excellent condition also plays and sounds fantastic. Comes with a case. Trade value $850

Hello, I play an Ibanez SRFF805 fanned fret bass. I love it, but considering the nature of the multi-scale, finding strings is very difficult. I can't find a single set of strings that will fit the bass. The low B is 35.5 inches, and the high G is 34 inches.

This bass is listed on the Ibanez website but I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere. Anyone got any info for where to buy or when available on this bass?
