I can still return it. I’ve been going in circles all day with this stuff. The API/Lynx combo sounds fantastic, but the Lynx kinda sucks at being a mixer and the API’s don’t have pads, so the eurorack stuff comes in too hot. The Soundcraft is way easier and more fun/musical to sort all my electronic gizmos and sounds great while writing, but recording via its USB sounds nice, but not as nice as the Lynx. I’ll very likely return this mixer and get a fully analog mixer with direct outs, I’m thinking

There is a recent thread on muffwiggler about mixers. The general consensus seems to be that there isn’t any medium-sized high-quality mixers on the market that don’t cost as much as a car. The closest one looks to be one of the SSLs, but they have issues as well.

Since you have champagne tastes in converters you might have a hard time finding a satisfactory mixer.

How about some new preamps with pads? Or DIY some pads?

It can be stand alone. Here’s the text from the website. I’m not sure I fully get the momentary function. I'm not clear if the two drone pitches can be shifted to two new pitches, or if you end up switching between the two. I think I get what it’s saying but I’m not quite clear on how you rig it. There are two big selector knobs for setting pitches.

There are actually two analogue tone generators inside the Drone Rainger making up the sound – one with a 12-way selector switch, the other free-moving – so that when they’re tuned nearly the same, you get interesting ‘beats’ created between the two of them. Blend them to suit using the ‘mix’ knob.

The drones also have two instantaneous effects that can be switched in with a footswitch while you play guitar; one is a ‘tone-down’ pitch dropping effect – making the pitch sag in a truly ominous way! The other is a ‘pitch-up’ effect, raising the pitch of one tone generator much higher – so that 2-note ‘chords’ are easily possible.

Its that exact pack of "clear" info that steered my away from this thing.

Not gonna spend 300$ on something I'm not sure of how it works.....

I read that exact manual and looked a few vids.....to no avail.

It gets interesting. The more I look at it the more curious I get.

Started experimenting with sending CC from Medusa to external gear. The LFO and Envelope values are available for this. I was able to get them into a recorded clip in Ableton. I’m not sure what I can do with this yet. I’m thinking I can possible tempo sync turning my Empress pedals on and off. I could probably do things in Zoia. As a stand alone, Zoia doesn’t need an LFO but if I wanted to sync to Medusa, that could work.

I tried using medusa’s Sequencer to input values in Ableton, and to use the grid as a keyboard to play midi instruments. It functions as expected. There’s a little midi delay to sort out, but it works. Perhaps today I’ll try sequencing 0 Coast with Medusa and then running the 0 Coast audio into the Medusa’s filter section. I haven’t tried using Medusa just for the filter section.

I think I'm gonna pass on this one.
I kinda got the hang of making drones using soft synths and my SP.

I actually sold my JMT 6 voice drone synth because I could get much better results with above process. Add to that the SP is awesome for live on the spot playing and adding fx.

Not yet an SP ninja.......but slowly climbing the mountain.

Any suggestions for expression pedals that are affordable and DONT have a hardwire cable like the Roland or M-Audio.

I need right angled plugs to save space with the "new used" boss dd7 I got. Had it a week know and I really like it. Can go from sutble to utter chaos!!!!!

The consensus on Muffs seems to mirror my findings for sure! There are some breat eurorack output modules like the Joranalogue Transmit2, but at $200 per channel it starts adding up quick! it’s been a fun experiment regardless of outcome. I really did find that I love routing everything to a mixer in a musical context. Kinda keeps my tiny braid centered on the work

I’m running a Dunlop mini. I don’t think they’re the cheapest things going but not crazy priced in the US.


I got the 0 Coast wired up to sequence from the Medusa and route the audio through Medusa for the filtering, which can be set to sync with the sequencer tempo. Nifty.

No clips yet, but I’ll say that running the Dreadbox Nyx into the Medusa and using the digital wave tables blended with the analog Nyx oscillators is yielding some nice sounds.
