"LA POEXE is a power duo composed of Marc Mackin and his childhood friend Charles Thibeault, who explores an original musical universe. Playing on a baritone guitar and a drums, they create compositions that are mostly instrumental, embellished with short thunderous poems with cynical and labyrinthine accents. Their music evokes raw energy, reminiscent of both extreme sports and a Gothic version of Elvis on steroids, with heavy riffs and surprising harmonies.
The name LA POEXE, often distorted for the pleasure of the phonetic game, reflects their taste for the absurd and the unexpected. On stage, the duo offers an intense and chaotic show, where incongruous performances and accessories mix to offer an unforgettable experience. Listening to Vol. II.
The new songs are heavy as hell. And I really dig the bass! I've lowered my strings since listening to this guy. On top of all that's been said about their style, there's also a touch of RATM to it.

Math rock is not really my stuff in general, it's too intellectual for me. What makes Angine de Poitrine work for me is that "body music" thing, and it was even more obvious when I saw them live (sorry if I brag again about the gig I was so lucky to attend
)It's hard to explain, but they first establish this "can't stop dancing" beat, then they brake it and mess around with it, it's really playful and fun. But even when they deconstruct everything, you still feel the initial pulse, and you can keep on dancing to the same beat. Otherwise for me it would probably be just a succession of meaningless notes, very skilled but somewhat boring (for me).
Agreed. This will go down as one of the great "worst-kept secrets" in music.
